Bart
Participanthi,
Our slugs are events and event, but still, tribe-events is all of sudden used.
question 1) Why is that?
question 2) Also, when enabling/disabling the Events Calendar plugin (to debug the site as this plugin is very unreliable for us), the events related pages don’t work anymore, until the Permalinks settings are resaved. Why is that?
question 3) I changed the slugs on the Events Calendar settings page, but that didn’t help. Why? Additionally, after changing the slugs, I needed to reserve the Permalinks again.
Thanks for looking into this.

KeymasterHi Bart,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
I’m sorry to hear that the slug that you set is not being honored for some reason.
As a first step, can you try changing your permalink structure to the Post Name structure. It looks like you have it set to Category/Post Name instead.
You can read more about permalink best practices here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/permalinks-best-practices/
After doing so, can you try flushing your permalinks by going to Settings < Permalinks and Save Changes. You will want to clear your browser and site cache as well after doing this.
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantWill this affect all URL’s of my existing posts and pages?

KeymasterHi Bart,
Yes, this is a global settings and it will most likely affect your other URLs, however it is the permalink structure that we recommend and may be why you are experiencing this issue.
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantWe have this blog for over 4 years, we can’t change the URL of hundreds of posts just to test some bug.
Anyway, we haven’t changed anything and the slug has changed back to “Event” by itself. Very weird.
Now, I do see that the featured images of events are missing in the search results. Can we fix this?

ParticipantI spoke too soon:
1) Besides Featured Images missing from Events that show up in Search results, we have the following issues.
2) when clicking on a specific date on our calendar, the previous and next events links are no longer in Dutch, but in English. You can test this here https://www.wtnschp.be/events/
3) The links to show our calendar in different formats does not work:
Week – works
List, Month, Map – link to the homepage
Photo – links to one of our posts.4) The title of our calendar has gone missing. Not sure how we can bring it back?

MemberThat’s strange, Bart, especially if things were working previously.
Can you think of any events that took place immediately prior to this set of problems emerging — for example, did you update any plugins or add a new theme, or anything of that order?
theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts
When you opened this topic you noted that you had already tried these steps, but I want to revisit this. If you deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar and also switch to a default, unmodified theme and then flush permalinks, does the main events page begin to work as expected? (You may prefer to conduct this sort of testing on a staging site.)
Additionally, are you using a multi-language plugin – which one if so (and can you share your system information)?
Thanks!

ParticipantHi,
we did change the language of our WP.
issue 1) missing featured images of events in Search Results. I have no idea if this is a recent issue or one that was always there.
issue 2) that will probably be directly related to changing the language of our WP
issue 3) this issue we have regularly ever since using The Events Calendar. Don’t know what causes it, sometimes it goes away by itself. Resaving Permalinks sometimes does have an effect.
issue 4) that’s a strange one. We do have some custom code to change the calendar (provided via this forum).
