I would like to allow my logged in users to create events, allow RSVPs, and view their RSVPs. I have Events Calendar and Events Tickets installed now and it looks great, but I don’t want any of my users to be in the Admin area — it has to all be on the front end. Community Tickets sounds perfect, but it seems too complicated for my users because I won’t be allowing tickets with costs associated with them. All events are free. Is there a way to install Community Tickets and turn off all fee-based ticketing? Also, do I need to install the other packages if I do not want any ecommerce? Thanks!

Good evening Monica and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.

The simple solution to your needs is to grab a copy of Community Events: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/

This is a completely different plugin than Community Tickets.

It does precisely what you are looking for: allow a simple way for your users to post events from the front-end while not being able to create tickets.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Thanks, Geoff. I’m not sure I am using the correct terminology, but an RSVP requires a ticket whether it’s free or not, right? I am looking for something simple to do this (I wasn’t that clear before):

    – No one but admins should have back end access — everything has to be on the front end
    – Allow anyone logged in to set up an event, and not allow them to charge for it
    – Allow users with a specific role (let’s call it “Role4”) to set up events that are only viewable by users of other specific roles (let’s say “Role3” and “Role4”) — I am using s2Member already so this type of role-based access should work out well.
    – Allow people who are logged in to RSVP to events they have access to, and they are always free (I don’t want to show “$0.00” — just a yes/no RSVP or something simple)
    – Allow people to change their own RSVPs
    – Allow event organizers to change the RSVPs of people in their events (this is a nice to have)
    – Show the list of attendees to everyone who views the event (must be logged in to see events)

I think I see how to do all but the last item. Is there a way to post everyone who has signed up for an event within the event front end page itself?

Thanks, I really like The Events Calendar so far!

    Good evening Monica,

Thank you for writing back and for clarifying.

To answer your specific needs you will need:

    This will handle the following:

    – No one but admins should have back end access — everything has to be on the front end

    – Allow anyone logged in to set up an event, and not allow them to charge for it (including creating the option to RSVP to the event (ticket).

    – Allow people who are logged in to RSVP to events they have access to, and they are always free (I don’t want to show “$0.00” — just a yes/no RSVP or something simple).

You might need to do a bit of string customization via snippets or language files.

    – Allow people to change their own RSVPs

    – Show the list of attendees to everyone who views the event (must be logged in to see events)

    – Is there a way to post everyone who has signed up for an event within the event front end page itself?

Yes, via the “Hide attendees list on event page” checkbox

You also have some specific needs that might require a bit of work on your end, but are totally feasible:

    – Allow users with a specific role (let’s call it “Role4”) to set up events that are only viewable by users of other specific roles (let’s say “Role3” and “Role4”) — I am using s2Member already so this type of role-based access should work out well.

    You should read the following:

Let me know if that helps.

Good to hear you have language files! It sounds like this is going to work. What happens if I purchase the two add-ons and give it a week or so, and then discover it won’t work for me? Are refunds a possibility? This isn’t a deal breaker but this will be my third events plugin attempt so I’m a bit gun shy. This will be my last presales question, thank you!
