    Hi, new user here. Yesterday we rolled out the new calendar and users were able to upload just fine. Today, however, users can’t add a photo, venue or organizer.

    I deactivated all plugins and the calendar submissions still did not work. I also tried reverting to the 2014 WP theme.

    What am I doing wrong?

    The calendar is here: http://spokanefavs.com/calendar/

    Please help right away!

    Can someone get back to me please? Otherwise I’m going to have to ask for a refund and find another calendar, and I really like this one and am hoping we can resolve this.

    Hi Tracy,

    I responded to your other thread that was resolved.  Are you still experiencing this issue?  If so, as a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi Jamie,

    Yes, I’m still experiencing issues. My temporary fix for now was to edit the submission form itself and make it so that users can’t submit photos, venues or organizers – which is bummer. But at least the form works now. I’d like them to be able to submit those items though.

    Hi Tracy,

    I’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing issues with your site.

    As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    In the meantime, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    1.    A conflict with another plugin

    2.    A conflict with your WordPress theme

    3.    A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating

    When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.

    A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

    The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.

    Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

    But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    1.    Make a backup of your database

    2.    Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

    Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi Tracy,

    Thanks for providing me with that information.

    Is this the page that you are referring to? : http://spokanefavs.com/events/add/add

    What happens when users try to submit venues, organizers, and photos?

    Also, do you have any custom code on this page?  If so, try removing it and see if the issue persists.

    Can you try changing your Community slug to community and see if the errors still occur?  You can do this by going to Events Settings < Community.

    Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi Jaime,

    I changed the slug and I went ahead and added the code back in so you can see what happens when someone tries to add a venue, photo and organizers. They can’t type at all in the venue box, (or event tags), the add organizer button doesn’t go anywhere and the add photo button let’s you click on a photo to upload, but then nothing happens.

    I can’t figure out how to edit this page manually. I thought if I turned off some widgets on that page it might help, but I don’t see http://spokanefavs.com/events/ in the backend anywhere – seems it was a page created by Modern Tribe somehow?

    Hi Tracy,

    http://spokanefavs.com/events/ is your main calendar page.  You can change the slug of that page by going to Events Settings < General.  Unfortunately you can’t edit this page from the WordPress backend.  You can copy and edit the template for this page using our Themer’s Guide, if you are interested:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/

    http://spokanefavs.com/events/community/add is where your Submit An Event form is, which is where the issue seems to be, correct?  I can see the issue you are talking about.

    It seems that you may have edited the code.  Which code did you edit?

    I would also recommend trying to flushing your permalinks by going to Settings < General and Save Changes.

    Let me know how it all goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Yes, I edited the code to make it functional and then re-edited it so you could see what I’ve been talking about.

    In the edit-event.php file I deleted these lines (now they are back in).

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( ‘community/modules/image’ ); ?>

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( ‘community/modules/taxonomy’, null, array( ‘taxonomy’ => Tribe__Events__Main::TAXONOMY ) ); ?>

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( ‘community/modules/taxonomy’, null, array( ‘taxonomy’ => ‘post_tag’ ) ); ?>

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( ‘community/modules/venue’ ); ?>

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( ‘community/modules/organizer’ ); ?>

    Hi Tracy,

    First off, I just want to make sure that you are properly copying and editing templates, to make sure that the plugin works properly.  If you decided to edit our plugin, I would recommend creating a copy of the template file that you want to edit, as outlined in the following article (I know I linked here already):

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/

    This ensures that the plugin stays intact and that when updates become available, you will not lose the changes that you have made.

    As a next step, can you try flushing your permalinks by going to Settings < Permalinks and Save Changes.  Check if everything works as expected after doing so.

    If not, I see that you have Block Roles from Admin enabled.  If you disable that, do you see any changes?

    Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Sadly, yes, I have done all those things

    Hi Tracy,

    Thanks for bearing with me and going through all of these steps.

    Next, can you try adding the Community plugin to a fresh WordPress install to see if the form is still unusable?

    Also, can you please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any debug messages you see?

    I’m also seeing errors related to a Mailchimp form.  Can you disable that and check if anything changes?

    Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi Tracy,

    Can you take a look at your Date Format Settings under Events Settings < Display?

    It looks like your Date with Year format may be incorrect and causing the issue.  This article can show you how to format things properly:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Formatting_Date_and_Time

    In addition, please take a look at your WP Date formatting under Settings < General.  You may want to reset your permalinks again after this process.

    Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime
