    Hi,
up on scanning the QR-Code on the ticket I get a message which reads the ticket with the ID 0 has been checked in. On the ticket itself there is an ID – upon checking in it is alwasy ID 0.

    Pls see screenshot

    Hi Luc!

Thanks for reaching out to us! 🙂

That seems a strange issue. Let me help you troubleshoot it.

Despite the ID being ‘0’, does the QR code check in work? How about the manual check in via the attendees list? Does it work too?

Does the issue happen with only one particular event or qr code? or does it happen with all qr codes for all events?

I could not reproduce the issue in my own installation, so this could be related to a plugin or theme conflict. Could you please go through the complete steps in this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ and let me know what you can find in the process?

Also, when coming back, please make sure you share with us your latest system info by following this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
thanks for your help – we deactivated all the plugins and took the default theme – it still has the ID 0 issue.

The problem seem to exist for all QR-Codes, not only one. The check in itself works via the QR-Code in a way (pls see below we DO have an issue with the check in) I do get the messages (successfull checked in or already checked in as you see in the screenshot). Also manually the check in works.

We use for development a plugin called authenticator which shows you the website only when you are logged in – this is so far no problem you just have to login when you try to access the page the first time. So when you use barcoo or scanlife and authenticator is active you get a login window and if you login in you get to the backend on your second scan and you get the message “successful logged in with the ID 0” – this is so far the way it should be. But we just noticed when we deactivate the authenticator and scan the qr-code we always get to the front page of the event – not the backend, and we have no chance of loggin in. So this issues is maybe related to the ID 0 problem because when the page is online we will no longer use the authenticator of course and need to get to the backend upon scanning the Qr code.

What scan app do you recommend?

I found some php-warnings in the back end – also I automatically shared the system information with you

Pls tell me what do you need for debugging
    thanks for your help

    Hi Luc!

Thanks for your cooperation so far!

I’m still not able to reproduce the issue myself. I even tried installing and activating the authenticator plugin. So there seems to be something particular about your site that may be causing this.
I don’t think the scan app should be a problem here, since it only reads the url encoded in the QR.

The next thing I would like to try here is creating a fresh test site — this will ensure that we’ve effectively got a “clean canvas” to work with.

    • Please install a fresh copy of WordPress in a subdirectory (if you have a CPanel-type hosting account there will probably be a one-click install script to make this really easy)
    • Don’t install anything except The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus
    • Please also stick to a default theme — again, there’s no need to install anything else just yet!
    • Create a few events with some tickets in it so we have some test data to work with
    • Can you replicate the same problem?

If you find you can replicate the problem under these conditions it would be awesome if you could stop and let us know so we can take a look while the site is still running under default conditions.

Thanks for your help while we work on this together!

    Best,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
    thanks for your help

regarding log in credentials – this infired.de is a test page anyway – so we can break it if it is for a higher good.
http://triberger-weihnachtszauber.flippingrocks.de/ is under construction and we have backups therefore even there we should try to achieve what is needed – since in the end the thing has to work.

    I`ve enabled WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG

I have one issue – I got me a ticket from this event here http://infired.de/event/test-1/ via email. Then I scanned the QR-Code via scanlife and get to the front-end of the event – but I would need to login first to get to the back end – but there is no login form coming.
So what I usually do then is enabling the authenticator plugin which forces me to login and then when I scan the second time I get to the back end and get the ID 0 issue.
There has to be clearly a step where I can login first – or am I´m wrong?

What is happening if you scan the ticket?

    I attach the debug.log
Somehow the Sharing furnction of .tex and .log file does not work ( you can`t upload files of this type)

this is in the debug.log file so far

    Hi Luc!

Thanks for letting me know about that!

With the issue you described, I can now realize it might only be happening because of the authenticator plugin. Like you said, to scan the ticket QR code and be able to check in the attendee, you must first login to the WP admin.

Could you please try to login in before scanning a qr code and see if that still gets you the ID ‘0’ ? All this, with only The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus installed and activated.

There has to be clearly a step where I can login first – or am I´m wrong?

By default, there is no redirection to the WP login form. This is the way intended to be, so regular users/customers are redirected to the event instead of the login form.

Let me know how that goes.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
thanks for your help – but this does not work

I login into the page via wp-admin in chrome then go to the scanlife app and scan the qr-code – again I get only to the front-end. Which is because scanlife uses its own browser and not chrome – as far as I understand.

I COULD go from scanlife to the browser but this is an unnessary extra step, which complicates the check in process.

Again if I do this I have the ID 0 again.

(authtenticator has not been installed with this test installation)

What app do you use for scanning? since it seems crucial to the whole process.

Also is there somewhere a test-demo by event-ticket where I can actually test the qr-scanning and see if it actually works – since so far nothing works and I´m loosing time.

    thank you

    Hi Luc!

I’m really sorry this isn’t working for you. 🙁 I can only imagine how frustrating this might be. But rest assured we are here to help and we’ll do as much as we can to get to the bottom of it.

I’ve used QR Barcode Scanner and Barcode Keyboard and they seem to work pretty well. The second one probably deserves a chance because it creates a new keyboard with a scanner option in it, so you could input the ticket qr code directly in the browser.

Just to confirm, could you please try one of those barcode scanners and see if you can make it work?

If you are still getting the ID ‘0’ result, then we’ll need to make some deeper troubleshooting. Could you please see if you have any other messages now in the debug.log file and send those to us?

We currently don’t have a test site where you can test the qr scan. But this seems likely to be something particular with your site setup, so it would be best if we make all the tests there so we can spot where the problem is.

In the meantime, I will reach the team to have a second pair of eyes and figure out the next steps to make.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
    thanks for your help:
The scanning works now with the new apps – the id 0 issue remains.

There is nothing new in the debug.log than what i`ve posted last time – and nothing new gets triggered when I buy or scan the ticket.

    Hi Luc!

Thanks for following up and letting me know that the new apps work for you.

I have made a report about this issue so the dev team will have a closer look at this. I will reach back to you as soon as I have an update.

In the meantime, could you please confirm to me that the manual check-in via the attendees list does also return the ‘0’ ID ? I’m sorry if you’ve already mentioned this, but just wanted to make sure of it.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
thanks for your help – when I manually check in I don`t get any message about ID whatsoever. The only thing which changes is the button to the right – it changes from “check in” to “re-do check in”.

    Hi Luc!

Thanks for clearing that up! The manual check-in seems to be working correctly then.

We will reach back to you as soon as one of our devs go into this and figure out the next steps for this.

    Please hang in there!

    Best,
    Victor
