    Hi there,

I have a couple of issues to do with Ticketing which may or may not be related. Here is the first:

We have a number of events that repeat multiple times through the year so as your forums suggest we are using post Duplicator to duplicate the events. When we do so we then need to create the tickets from scratch. This is fine however I find when I create a ticket the attendee data seems to show from the event I duplicated, even though I’ve made a completely new ticket with a new name etc. If I then view the event from within the events admin panel the quantity is ok but it shows shared attendee deletions. It all seems very buggy.

I am using siteground as a host with caching but have regularly purged it to make sure this isn’t the issue.

I’ve attached 2 views of the same event showing differing attendee amounts. Given the event has only just been created it shouldn’t show anything other than 16 available with 0 sold.

    thanks in advance.

    Hi Lauren!

Thanks for getting in touch with us. Let me try to help you with this topic.

I’m not completely sure why this could be happening, but it might be a transients issue. When you duplicate an event using the post Duplicator plugin, it will also duplicate all of its postmeta, including the event attendees transients.

I would recommend you try creating a new event instead of duplicating an existing one and see if you can replicate the issue this way.

If you can’t, then I’d suggest to avoid using post Duplicator for this purpose, or maybe find a way to not duplicate the transients for the events.

We suggest you setup a dev/staging site so you can make all these tests without disrupting the live site. We also encourage to make a full backup of your site, both database and files so in case something goes wrong you can always restore your site.

Let me know how that goes and if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor

I have run some tests and if I create the event from scratch the issue doesn’t occur. The problem is my client has many repeating events, it is incredibly time consuming to create all from scratch. Given reccurring events isn’t possible we need a solution for duplicating events that works.

Surely many other websites using this plugin have the same issue? I have scoured the forums and cannot see any other way to easily duplicate events other than by plugin.

I’ve also visited the feature request page for duplicating events and it’s shown as being solved however the plugin proposed is out of date and has bugs.

Given I moved the client from Event Espresso this is super dissapointing. On top of this issue there are 2 other bugs that are known issues for which no update has been made in the recent release.

    the XLS exports don’t work
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/attendee-list-not-exporting-correctly/

and there is an issue with start dates for tickets
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/ticket-start-sale-dates-always-revert-to-current-time/

Each of these issues are a big deal to my client and the first one in particular (XLS exports) is an advertised element of the plugin that just doesn’t work. I understand bugs occur but when you pay for a premium plugin you do expect that the advertised basic features would work.

I truly hope your team can come up with fixes for these issues soon. With each maintenance release I am disappointed to see they are not addressed.

    Thank you

Make that 3 additional bugs to the above mentioned – the plugin seems to have no end of issues.

Honestly my client is very unimpressed and it doesn’t reflect well on me either. So disappointed.

    Hi Lauren,

I’m sorry to hear that you are being impacted by those other issues too. I know how frustrating this can be for you and your client.

We really appreciate your feedback on this matter. We strive to make our plugins better every day and feedback like yours really helps us assigning the right priority to our bugs and new features.

Thanks for confirming the issue was with the post Duplicator plugin. Could you please share with us the link to the feature request that is marked as solved for this request? I could not find it myself and we would like to update it if needed.

Although at this time tickets for recurring events is not supported, you can create a recurring event and then break the instances from its series. This way it will behave like a single event and you’ll be able to create tickets for it. I hope this helps as a workaround.

Regarding the bug for the attendee list not exporting correctly, this is of high priority right now so we are aiming to ship a fix the next time we include Event Tickets in our maintenance release cycle of our plugins.

As for the ticket Start Sale Date/Time bug, I have linked this thread to the bug report and raised its priority. I will set this thread’s status to “Pending fix” so we can notify you once a fix is shipped.

As for the ticket fieldsets not updating issue, I will kindly ask you to open a new topic for it. This will help us keep things more organized and ensure we give the proper attention to each of the issues. You can always link to other threads for reference.

We apologise for the all the inconveniences and we appreciate your patience while we work on this.

Do let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

    Best,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,

Thank you for you response. It is good to know some of these issues are high on the radar.

There is already a topic for the ticket field sets issue here. I was told it has been forwarded to the developers.

    Hi Lauren!

Thanks for following up with this.

First, let me apologise for the delay in getting back to you. We’ve been out on our annual team trip and we are slowly getting back to normal response times.

I can confirm the ticket field sets issue is already logged in a report that is linked to your thread. we will notify you once we have an update in that thread.

As for the user voice, the suggested plugin to duplicate events is this one > https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-tec-event/ Have you tried this plugin and see if it works for you?

Please let me know about it.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for your reply. In regards to the plugin I didn’t try it due to reviews and comments relating to the user voice post. The plugin hasn’t been updated in 8 months and I’d also read that it corrupts the slugs which made me nervous. Several posts on the matter in your forums advised to use the post duplicator plugin instead – I have tried 2 different ones both with the same issue with the ticket Qtys above. It may be worth a go but at present we are doing them all manually to avoid any ticketing issues or conflicts. Painfully slow but the most robust option for now.

    Cheers,

    Lauren

    Hi Lauren!

Thanks for letting us know about that.

I will make sure we leave a note in the user voice idea regarding the issue for duplicating attendees when using the post Duplicator plugin.

I will also reach out to the team about this feature request to see if there is scope for it in one of our future feature releases of our plugins and make sure we post any updates in the user voice idea.

Unfortunately, for the time being it seems the less prone to error way to duplicate events is manually creating them like you say.

We’ll keep you posted about the ticket Start Sale Date/Time bugfix.

    Best,
    Victor

    Thanks for confirming Lauren! 🙂

Since you marked this “Resolved” I’ll go ahead and close this thread now, but feel free to open a new topic if anything comes up and we’ll be happy to help.
