ParticipantWe’ve submitted a support topic on the .org repo page for Advanced Post Manager (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/sorting-issues-3/), but also saw that we could post for help here.
Hi –
I’ve inherited a site using this plugin in conjunction with The Events Calendar (TEC), and Events Tickets Plus (ETP). When I went through and updated TEC and ETP (albeit from several versions back), we started noticing some sorting/filtering strangeness on our /edit.php?post_type=tribe_events page. When applying a filter for displaying by a date field, it indeed shows those matching events first, but immediately following what should be the last event in that query are the rest of the events. For example, if I filter by event start date “On and After” 2017-07-24 I see events that match that query but then I also see events from <i>before</i> that date as well.
I realize this plugin needs to interact with custom code in order to do anything, but do you know if anything has changed in TEC or ETP recently that could cause an issue with Advanced Post Manager?
Thanks in advance!
I also see that someone else posted about sorting issues a few days after we did.
Any help would be appreciated – would like to get this figured out asap.
Thanks!

MemberHello Michael!
Thanks for getting in touch with us! I’d be happy to help you with this issue.
I’m going to make some tests on my own local installation to investigate this further and see what I can find. I will get back to you later today.
In the meantime, could you please share with us your system information by following this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/ ? This way I can see if I spot anything strange with it and also replicate your settings more accurate.
Thanks,

MemberHello Michael!
I did some tests on my end and I could not really reproduce the behaviour you are having using the default filters.
Could you please share with us any custom code you are using to create filters? This code could be in a custom plugin or in your theme’s functions.php file.
With the same filters you are using and your system information, we’ll make some other tests to see what we can find.
do you know if anything has changed in TEC or ETP recently that could cause an issue with Advanced Post Manager?
I’m not aware of any specific changes that might be causing this but I’ll keep an eye on our issues tracker for any new related reports.
Let me know if you have other questions as well.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor –
I’ve searched through all of our custom code and I can’t find anything that alters the default behavior of TEC or APM filters. The specific filter we’re having an issue with is one that is created by The Events Calendar Pro in /events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/APM_Filters/Date_Filter.phpPlease let me know if there’s anything else I can give you that would help. I’ll be replying privately with system info.

MemberHello Michael!
Thanks for clearing that out and for sending out the system information.
I will reach out to the team to have a second pair of eyes on this, and take a closer look at the Date_Filter.php code to possibly think of a scenario where this could be happening. I’ll let you know as soon as we do.
Just to confirm, is the issue happening if you are using the “Start Date” filter only, or also using multiple filters in addition to that one?
In the meantime, it could be worth trying to test for conflicts by deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default theme to see if any difference. Of course, we’d recommend you set up a staging/dev site to make these tests so you don’t disrupt the live site.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,

MemberHi Michael!
Just wanted to follow up with this to let you know that we can’t find anything on our side to reproduce the issue, so there is a chance this could be related to a plugin or theme conflict. Then, testing for conflicts should be the next step to take.
Please let us know what you find and don’t hesitate to ask any question in the meantime.

ParticipantHi Victor –
Thanks for doing some debugging on your side.I’ve spent the morning creating a dev site and testing for conflicts. It appears that Yoast SEO >5.0 is causing the issue. Reverting to Yoast 4.9 allows filtering to work normally.
We’ll revert to that version of Yoast on our production site, but can you verify that this happens for you as well?
Thanks!

ParticipantThere’s a few recent articles on this and other forums regarding issues with Yoast SEO and APM. They seem to point to the newly added Text Link Counter feature in Yoast 5.
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/conflict-with-the-events-calendar-advanced-post-manager/
Don’t know if this is the exact issue, but since you mentioned the issue is not present in 4.9, I thought it might be related.
Hope this helps.

MemberHi Michael!
Good catch! Yes, I can confirm the issue happening for me too with Yoast SEO 5.1 and like you say, reverting back to version 4.9 clears the issue.
I will log a report for this conflict to investigate this further and find the source of it. We’ll keep you posted about this.
Thanks for following up with this! Let me know if you have any other question in the meantime.

MemberHi Michael!
Just wanted to share with you that we’ve had other users report this as well and it seems that the Yoast SEO plugin authors are aware if this issue and have posted a solution for it here > https://wordpress.org/support/topic/conflict-with-the-events-calendar-advanced-post-manager/#post-9362034
Please try it out and let us know if it works for you.

Hey Mathew! Thanks so much for chiming in here! I missed to see your reply in the first place.
