ParticipantWe recently updated to 4.0.1. Not only did the update process crash the site, but now none of our recurring events will open. They show up in the dashboard and they show up on the calendar, but the individual event post will not open??
None of the events that were created before the update will display, they just show the date and an error message – http://veteranscoalition.org/event/2015-12-22/

We are using The Event Calendar
The Event Calendar PRO
The Event Calendar: Community EventsThis is very frustrating…Please help!

MemberHi,
Sorry for the issues here. I can help get this back in working order.
I see what you mean about the Recurring Events not working.
Can you please follow our 404 error guide and see if that helps resolve this:
Let me know what you find out and we can go from here.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Brian,
Permalinks were already set to Post Name, so I changed them to Numeric, but that did not help.I am using a child theme, so I created a copy of the functions file for the child theme and added the 404 code snippet, but this breaks the site entirely, so I removed the functions file from the child theme.
The issues is only happening with recurring events.

MemberOk,
I am not able to reproduce this issue on my test site.
If the 404 Guide did not help can you please follow our testing for conflicts guide:
And see if that can narrow down the cause of this.
Thanks

ParticipantWhy are you sending me through a conflict exercise with all of my other plugins when this is clearly a known issue with your plugin?
There are several threads from others who have upgraded to Modern Tribe 4.0.1 and the upgrade has broken their site.We are using 4.0.2 versions of The Events Calendar & The Events Calendar PRO now.
Your suggestion to others was:
“If you updated The Events Calendar to 4.0 and leave Community Events at 3.12.x or earlier it will break the site. If you cannot update Community Events for whatever reason you should remain on 3.12.6 for the Events Calendar and follow the steps below to set that up.Unfortunately, the only way to fix it is to access the files of you site and delete the older version of Community Events. This process itself does not delete or change any of your settings in the database.”
But clearly the process DOES change some settings because even going back and reinstalling 3.12 of Calendar and Calendar PRO, the recurring events are still not showing up.
When I activate ONLY The Events Calendar 4.0.2, all of the events show up on the calendar. When I activate Calendar PRO, the plugin can’t find individual events.
At this point, we are going to have to re-enter all of our events manually, so that we can use the PRO features.
I sincerely hope this is cleared up BEFORE the next update.

MemberSorry if you do not want to test for conflicts, but that is the next step in the process to solving the 404 error issue on recurring events as it will help rule our a conflict with another plugin or your theme.
It is possible it could be a bug, but without use being able to reproduce it we would not be able to fix it.
So that is the next step to take.
The community events fatal error issue is a conflict with function names not related to recurring events and doubtful it is the cause of your issue as that does not change any settings in the database.
So please if you can follow the testing for conflicts guide and help us get to the bottom of this for you.
Thanks

ParticipantWe have the exact same issue and we have never had Community Events installed.
No recurring events work. All public URLs 404, all edit links for recurring events do not work. We did not have this problem until 4.0. Follow the 404 guide does not help at all.
