    Hi,

I’m needing an events system where end-users can create their own events and sell tickets.

Can this be done with your software or is it limited to just selling tickets for our own events?

    Thanks

    Hi Adam,

    Yes, this is absolutely possible!

You’ll need the following plugins to get things going:

With these installed, site visitors will be able to submit events to the calendar and create tickets for those events, the payments of which can be split with you. You can set the tickets to sell from any of the following e-commerce plugins:

    • WooCommerce
    • Easy Digital Downloads
    • Shopp
    • WPEC

I do want to point out that we offer a full refund on all products within 30-days of purchase. That should give you plenty of time to give that combination a try to see if it works for you and your site.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi Geoff,

Sorry for the delay in responding – and thanks for your reply.

With the 30 day refund policy then I’ll likely just go ahead and purchase.

One thing that confused me though… there is (in my mind) overlap between a “the events calendar” (which would have events on it) and “event tickets”. I guess “the events calendar” is for events, but no ability to sell tickets.

But then, if someone want to create an event (to sell tickets) that happens once a week, can they do this with “event tickets” (recurring events?) and if so, then surely the concept of a calendar comes into play and therefore there’s no need for “the events calendar”?

If you could clarify my vague question there about how events, recurring events, ticketed events, and recurring ticketed events relate to each other, that’d be great.

And then finally, to confirm… none of your plugins support payment processing? I’d need woo commerce or similar for that?

I should get the “community manager bundle” by the sound of it, yeh?

Sorry, I set the previous reply to “my issue is solved”.

I should also add to my previous question… with community events (and events tickets), can we take a % of ticket sales from people who create their own (ticketed) events?

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for following up and I hope you had a great weekend. 🙂

But then, if someone want to create an event (to sell tickets) that happens once a week, can they do this with “event tickets” (recurring events?) and if so, then surely the concept of a calendar comes into play and therefore there’s no need for “the events calendar”?

Just to be clear, there is no overlap in functionality between The Events Calendar and Event Tickets. The Events calendar allows you to create and manage events. Event Tickets adds RSVP functionality to any page, post (and yes, even event). Event Tickets Plus allows you to create tickets and sell them but integrating with ecommerce plugins, like WooCommerce.

In other words, both The Events Calendar and Event Tickets are integrated, but contain completely different sets of functionality. If you ever found yourself in a place where you do not need a calendar, you could certainly disable The Events Calendar and use Event Tickets as a standalone plugin on default pages and posts, just no calendar.

If you could clarify my vague question there about how events, recurring events, ticketed events, and recurring ticketed events relate to each other, that’d be great.

I also do want to point out the recurring events are not supported by tickets. It is something we plan to work on but, for now, all events in a recurring series share the same pool of tickets and purchasing a ticket in one event pulls from the same stock as the rest of the events in the series.

And then finally, to confirm… none of your plugins support payment processing? I’d need woo commerce or similar for that?

That’s correct. Event Tickets Plus integrates with WooCommerce (and a few other ecommerce plugins) so that a ticket is a product type in the WooCommerce that is then capable of being sold through the WooCommerce checkout process. Event Tickets allows you to create the ticket and then integrates with WooCommerce so that WooCommerce can handle the rest of the transaction from there.

I should get the “community manager bundle” by the sound of it, yeh?

That’s a good one, for sure. I do want to point out that the bundle also includes Community Events and Community Tickets, which are two plugins that allow guests to create and sell tickets for events on the calendar by submitting them via a front-end submission form. You might find that interesting, but also wanted to clarify that for you to let you know that those may not be necessary for your project.

I should also add to my previous question… with community events (and events tickets), can we take a % of ticket sales from people who create their own (ticketed) events?

Yes, that is correct. You are able to charge a fee for the tickets sold on your site with Community Tickets.

Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

Excellent reply – thanks… and I’ll buy something… I’m still just a little unclear on a couple of things.

Firstly, FWIW… my confusion is when you use the word “events” talking about the Calendar product. I keep thinking, “if you have an event then you need tickets!”… but that’s because I’m not even considering people who have an event and DON’T want to sell tickets. Anyway…

On the “community bundle”, it includes “community events”. From your “community events” page on your website… “With Community Events, your users can add their events directly to your calendar”… but the “community bundle” doesn’t include “events calendar pro”, so I’d have to use the free calendar version (which I don’t really want to do), or get the “ultimate bundle” which gives me things I don’t need.

    So it would cost me $299 + $89 = $388

And actually, if I get calendar pro separately, it means I can use calendar pro on another site I have in min should I decide I don’t need a calendar on this “events” site… ya?

    Hi Adam,

Yes, that all sounds correct to me.

    One thing to clarify:

but the “community bundle” doesn’t include “events calendar pro”, so I’d have to use the free calendar version

Events Calendar PRO is an extension to The Events Calendar. In other words, The Events Calendar is required to be installed in order to run Events Calendar PRO and doing so introduces several PRO features to the calendar, like recurring events and additional views.

I wanted to make sure that was crystal clear because the comment above sounded like there might be some confusion there between the two.

    Thanks!
