ParticipantJumping in here. Just did a fresh install with the latest updates, since I was experiencing the problem Nico was referring to (http://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/anonymous-users-unable-to-add-new-venues-or-organizers/) at first.
Now that is solved, but now I have the same issue as TS: Name Already Exists. I only have this issue with adding a new organiser, for the venue it works fine.
Any ideas on how to apply a quick fix to this? Really need this function ^^

ParticipantInstalled the recommended update to 3.12.6 revealed in this post.
Removed the now non-functioning code for required fields.
Can confirm what Roy has also found: can anonymously add new venue but not new organizer. Kinda kills the Community Events add-on.

MemberHey Folks,
Thanks for reporting this, and sorry this wasn’t resolved in the maintenance release! A dev will be looking into this later today, but I’m not sure I’ll have an update on this till Monday. I’ll keep you posted.
Best,
NicoNovember 14, 2015 at 1:05 pm #1025791Nico
MemberHi Guys,
Barry from the dev team could confirm this was missed in the just released maintenance release, and it will be included in an upcoming release. Hopefully he took the time to generate a ‘temporary fix plugin’ to address this issue for now. Please go ahead and download the fix, activate it and let me know if it does the trick!
Once again thanks for the patience on this,
Have a great weekend,

ParticipantI applied Temporary Fix 41497 in functions.php.
I can add an event anonymously with a new venue but not a new organizer.

MemberBummed to hear Jim, I just pinged Barry (who developed the plugin) to ask for a review.
Sorry this is taking sooo long 🙁Roy, please post your update when you have a chance!

MemberJim,
Though it’s a single file zip, it’s a plugin and should be installed + activated as such – it won’t work (as it is) if it is embedded within the theme’s functions.php file (sorry for not making that clearer). Please remove the code you added to the functions.php file and install + activate the plugin. Once an official fix goes live, you can deactivate and delete it.

ParticipantYour fix doesn’t work for me. Although I don’t get the error anymore, the data is not being saved once I submit the form..

ParticipantRestored functions.php; installed and activated plugin, but found no change in result.
I can add an event anonymously with a new venue but not a new organizer.

ParticipantHi Nico- Any update from Barry’s side? Would be great if we could solve this on short term, since I bought this for a project that was supposed to be finished by today. That’s the reason I spend 160USD: for getting the functionality I need :). So I hope it’s still worth it (!)
Or- since it seems to work with an earlier version of this plugin- could you send me a (working) link for this older version? Cause the link that got posted somewhere else on this forum, didn’t work for me. Probably because I just buy the plugin, I don’t have access to earlier versions that are from before my register date.
Cheers

Participanttesting it with 2015 and no other plugins active?
Yes, 2015, no other plugins.
Reverting to 3.12.3 allows venue and organizer to be added anonymously as tested locally, expect to redo live site tonight.November 19, 2015 at 4:57 pm #1028317Roy
ParticipantHey Nico, would appreciate a reply from your side. Thanks!

MemberHey Roy,
I’ve replied in private to Jim, maybe you were unable to read my reply because you are not the topic author?
Downgrading seems to be the short answer here (as you were getting different results from the fix test). Apparently this bug was introduced in Core 3.12.4, so please retest using Core 3.12.3 (https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.3.12.3.zip) and let me know! It’s not necessary for you to downgrade Community as well (in case you need/want to downgrade it as well I can enable that for you or sen you the ZIPs). Jim confirmed that downgrading worked for him locally (thanks for the update!).
I’m sorry for the inconvenience this might cause until fixed, I know it’s a bummer specially because you just bought the plugin short ago 🙁
Regarding the delay we usually reply within 24hrs of the last post but sometimes it takes a little longer when there’s a lot of activity in the forums which is the case of this week. I’ll try to pay more attention to this issue for sure. Please let me know if downgrading Core works for now,
Have a great weekend,
