KeymasterHi Alexandra,
Glad to hear that your license is working now.
The Google Calendar format that you should use is the one called Public address in iCal format.
The address should look something like this:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/test.email%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantWhere do I go to get a link like that? This is what my g calendar looks like.

KeymasterHi Alexandra,
If you change the view so that you can see a sidebar, you will see all of your calendars there:

To the right of that calendar name, if you hover over, you will see settings. Click on that and you will see the Public address in iCal format that you need.
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantThe Google calendar I am trying to sync isn’t connected to my Google account but I am trying to re-create the directions to her to give me the URL using my own Google calendar. The only link I see is “Public URL to this calendar”, which I am pretty sure is not in the format you said we need. Is that the link I should be using to sync?

KeymasterThe link you should be using is the Public address in iCal format, which is two links below that first one.
I hope that helps!

ParticipantHello. Just tried that URL and I am getting the same error I was before. What else can I do to get the calendar to sync?
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/info%40basisindependent.com/public/basic.ics

ParticipantOkay. I figured out the correct link to import, however, now it is saying there aren’t any records to import, even though there are. I tried using the keyword search “school” because there IS an event on the calendar with “school” in it, but that didn’t pull any records either. Help please!

KeymasterHi Alexandra,
The records may not be appearing because you need to increase the Import Date Range Limit under Events Settings < Imports.
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantI extended that setting to 3 months and some events were available to preview. Does that mean the calendar only syncs up to 3 months and not the entirety of entries on the calendar?
June 22, 2018 at 4:56 am #1559062Jaime Marchwinski
KeymasterHi Alexandra,
Yes, that means that the calendar will only import events up to three months in the future.
You can increase that or choose to not have a limit if you’d prefer.
Let me know if anything else comes up!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantWhy is “do not limit” for “import type limit” not recommended? I am not sure why we wouldn’t want the entire calendar for the school year to sync at once. I am not sure there is any point is keeping known dates hidden from families just because they are farther than 3 months out. Hopefully you can provide some insight on why it is not recommended.
I am pretty sure the initial sync I did is still running, even though it has been over 24 hours. Is that possible? Even if it is only importing 3 months of events?
June 22, 2018 at 11:19 am #1559471Jaime Marchwinski
KeymasterHi Alexandra,
“Do not limit” is typically not recommended if you have a lot of events, as it may slow down your site.
As far as how long the initial import will take, it does depend on a number of factors, including the number of events that are being imported.
Let me know if anything else comes up!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHello! The events in this screen shot are the only events on the calendar for the next 3 months that we are trying to sync. I set up the sync to go daily and it doesn’t look like anything is actually syncing because in Word Press for # imported, it says zero. Is this something we should address with the people who designed the websites ?

KeymasterHi Alexandra,
As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Also, can you point me to which URL you are using to import your Google Calendar events? I’d like to test out if this scenario is working on my end.
Thanks,
Jaime
