We are thinking about purchase the PRO version of The Events Calendar.
We would like ro run a public calendar at https://www.fleksjobbernetvaerket.dk/kalender/ … and implement a feature that allows the front end user (logged in or not) to create events.
We would like to decide which fields should be avalaible for the user to create these events (such as: file upload, contact name, phone number and so on).
When the user events has been created, we would likethem automaticly to show up in the calendar in onth-view/list-view and so on.
Is your software solutions the one we need to purchase?
thanks
KnudNovember 28, 2016 at 7:41 am #1198310Geoff B.MemberGood morning Knud and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions. We would like ro run a public calendar at https://www.fleksjobbernetvaerket.dk/kalender/ … and implement a feature that allows the front end user (logged in or not) to create events.
Actually, the plugin you need to accomplish this specific need is called Community Events: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/
We would like to decide which fields should be avalaible for the user to create these events (such as: file upload, contact name, phone number and so on).
I would recommend taking a look at the basic fields that come with the plugin first to see if you need any additional fields.
If there are already enough fields, you can decide which ones you want to keep with a simple customization. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.
If you require additional fields, you can then purchase the Events Calendar Pro premium add-on (which works great with Community events): https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-calendar-pro/
This will allow you to add custom fields to events (and many more great features and views).
When the user events has been created, we would likethem automaticly to show up in the calendar in onth-view/list-view and so on.
With Community events, you have full control over that. Settings allow you to decide if the events are published immediately or not.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

November 28, 2016 at 9:24 am #1198462Knud K PetersenGuestHi Geoff B
Thanks for your answer – and thanks for answering me in a ‘more or less easy-to-understand-it’-way so I guess I get it all.
Let me sum it up, and see if I get this right:
Option 1)
I already have the free version “The Events Calendar” but I need “Community Events” plugin to allow the user (logged in or not) to create events [yes/no]
Option 2)
If – in regards to the fileds avalabile – the amount of fileds is not enough, I should get the “Events Calendar Pro premium”-plugin, and if I do so, it requieres some kinda programming skills to implement new fields [yes/no]
——
I guess I will go after option 1, and hope the fields are as I want them to be.
I have seen your screenshots and video. I am looking for fileds such as: “event contact person”, “event contact contact person telefon number”, “e-mail for contact person”. “file upload option” …
Wot is your opinion. Wot do you think i shall do?
Thanks
Knud
November 28, 2016 at 10:15 pm #1198904Geoff B.MemberHey Knud,
Yes, you understood perfectly.
I am glad I was able to clarify things for you.I would recommend to start with option 1 and see where this takes you.
As for option 2, some of it does not require coding at all: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-additional-fields/
However, if you are looking to add fields to the organizer or venue section, you might need a bit of knowledge or hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/additional-fields-for-venues-and-organizers/
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

December 4, 2016 at 5:16 am #1201323Knud KParticipantHi Geoff B.
All righty … I’ve got Community Events … and had it set up … and it seems to work with the field issues I had … (but it wasn’t that easy)… Here are some issues:
1) – http://prnt.sc/df6w3f
The annonemous event I created here, why is it displayed like this in the backend (My browser is set to view as 100% size, and this only accours in this section in WordPress)When I created this annonemous event, WordPress or something else, decided to pick a user account and add it to the event. I could manually change it … but … not so good.
When I click the event, either WordPress or … wont let me just get in and edit and see the event … I have to mark it, and click edit from the menu to be allowed to edit the item.
December 5, 2016 at 9:52 am #1201627Geoff B.MemberGood afternoon Knud and thank you for writing back,
Regarding the screenshot you sent, here is what is happening:
- On each WordPress menu, you can choose how many columns are displayed
- On your screen, it looks like there are too many of these columns for your screen width
- This is due to the fact that Events have many more columns than a normal post.
To fix this, please look at the following screenshot
When I created this annonemous event, WordPress or something else, decided to pick a user account and add it to the event. I could manually change it … but … not so good.
I am not exactly sure what you mean by that. Could you send me a screenshot or give me a specific example ?
When I click the event, either WordPress or … wont let me just get in and edit and see the event … I have to mark it, and click edit from the menu to be allowed to edit the item.
Again, I am not 100% sure what you mean by that. A screenshot or examples would help me understand a bit better.

December 9, 2016 at 10:36 am #1204057Geoff B.MemberGood afternoon Knud,
I totally agree with you.
This thread would benefit from the options found in the premium forums (especially the private reply option). You can simply reference this thread and open one here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/post/
Just make sure you select Community Events in the dropdown list.
In the meantime, in case you have not read it, I would recommend this knowledge base article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/new-user-primer-community-events/
Have a good week-end,
