ParticipantMy embedded google maps on my events pages no longer work. There’s just a grey fill instead of the map. I think this happened after the latest update. Can you advise?

MemberHi Charlie
This sounds like a Google Maps API Key issue. Check out this recent update:
https://theeventscalendar.com/important-google-maps-api-changes/ You may need to log in to your Google account and update some settings there. Then see https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-your-google-maps-api-key/ to get your key set up.
Do note, if your theme also requests an API key, use a unique key for each.
Let me know if this works for you.
Thanks

ParticipantI followed your instructions (added billing to google console account, made sure theme api was different), but the maps are still not showing. The Transition Tool (https://mapsplatformtransition.withgoogle.com/) says my project is in good shape with no errors, so I’m not sure what else I can do…

MemberHey Charlie
Bummer, it sounds then like this is a plugin or theme conflict.
Can you start by going through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/?ย I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict.ย
We recommend conducting these tests on a staging server (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/creating-using-wordpress-staging-site/).ย
If you are unable to do so, please install the Health Check plugin so that you can effectively disable all plugins without website visitors noticing any changes. See https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/#troubleshooting for how to do this.
Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists.
Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard ยป Updates).ย
Please send in your System Info https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/ as well after your tests so that we can better diagnose the issues you are having.ย
I did check your site for Javascript errors (Using Your Browser to Diagnose JavaScript Errors) and again am wondering if this same thing will happen using the default theme & deactivating all other plugins.
Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests.
Thanks

ParticipantI’ve not had a chance to try out your suggestions, but after updating to the latest version of Events Calendar, all is now working again. Thanks for your help!
