ParticipantI’m having trouble importing events from a Google calendar feed. I’ve tried multiple times and keep getting this error: “The preview is taking longer than expected. Please try again in a moment.”
Here’s the feed: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=0s4n8h5u8i8meqejrrpcra5q8i6cd42i%40import.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_York
Also, this is really just a workaround due to the fact that the FB event importer is down, so we’ve basically set up a Google Calendar that’s connected to someone’s personal FB account. I also tried that URL using the “other url (beta)” option but that’s not working either (webcal://www.facebook.com/ical/u.php?uid=585326082&key=AQAW-c6n5CKerVej).
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

MemberHi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
To import events from Google Calendar you have to use your ical URL.
On Google Calendar please head over to Settings > Calendars and select the calendar you wish to import.
Scroll down to Calendar Address and click the iCal button (note: if your calendar is private, you’ll need to click the iCal button next to the Private Address header instead).Use the provided URL to import events into your WordPress site. You’ll find detailed instructions/screenshots here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/import-events-from-google-calendar/
Unfortunately is still not possible to import events from Facebook. A number of restrictions were applied to Facebook’s Events API, which is the specific protocol Event Aggregator uses in order to import events, organizers and venues. Our team is actively working to restore the features that were directly affected by this change and you can check the progress on this page:
https://theeventscalendar.com/event-aggregator-status/
You will find more information about this subject in the following link:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/ea-fb-privacy-policy/
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee if/when Facebook will approve our application to normalize the imports, but we are in contact with them and hoping to have everything working as expected soon.
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Best Regards,
Patricia

ParticipantHi,
It looks like Google Calendar’s settings have changed with the redesign, as
the interface looks different from what’s on the link you sent.I’m only given the option of linking to this calendar (there is no iCal
setting):
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=0s4n8h5u8i8meqejrrpcra5q8i6cd42i%40import.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_YorkThough again, I’m curious if I can import from this feed directly
instead: webcal://
http://www.facebook.com/ical/u.php?uid=585326082&key=AQAW-c6n5CKerVej.Neither has worked so far.
I also looked here, which seems to be more accurate for the product I’m
using: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/import-from-feed-or-url/.And yes, I understand the issues with Facebook, which is why I’m working
with these instead. Honestly, I’m a little frustrated by your answers
above as they don’t really address my questions directly, and direct me
instead to outdated help pages.May 19, 2018 at 6:38 am #1534490Patricia
MemberHi Harris,
You are right, Google updated their interface, we will update our KB accordingly, thanks for flagging this!
With their new interface, you just have to access your calendar settings (screenshot) and scroll down: In the end of the page, in the Integrate Calendar section you’ll find your public and secret address in ical format: you can use one of these links to import your events (screenshot).
Regarding this link you just shared: http://www.facebook.com/ical/u.php?uid=585326082&key=AQAW-c6n5CKerVej
I did a quick test and can confirm that it is possible to import and schedule imports from this URL using the iCalendar option (screenshot here).
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions at all please feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to help as best I can.
Thanks,
Patricia
