    Hi,

I’ve added additional fields to my events so that our users can find them with the filter bar.

I’ve tagged the additional field for the individual event in the back end, and its showing the metadata on the front end, however when I search for that event using the customer filter, its not showing in the list of events.

The example event i’m trying to get to filter is: http://calendar.childmags.com.au/event/sydney-harbour-icons-with-lego-bricks/ (as you can see it has “Region” under Other)

However searching by region with the filter bar does not make it appear in the search results: http://calendar.childmags.com.au/events/category/sydney/

    Hi Joanna,

Thanks for getting in touch with us! I’ll help you here.

I could see the Region additional field in the event you sent, but I don’t see FilterBar enabled in event views. Maybe I’m missing something?

Please let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi,

    Thanks for the speedy response.

Sorry about that, I disabled it because i’ve run into another problem. When the filter bar is active, the “View As (Month, list, photo etc)” will not work. And Month View has stopped working all together.

    I’l enable it now.

Thanks for clarifying Joanna, I could see the issue in your site.

Can you please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can see if this is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins. Also it would be great if you could share your system information with me so I can check if everything looks right on that end.

Please let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi,

I’ve followed your guide, stripped the theme away, turned off all plugins bar the Tribe Events plugins.

Check to see if the Views and Search work – they don’t.

Turned off Filter Bar – They work.

So it seems to be the Filter Bar plugin that is the problem.

Thanks for sending over system info and also for performing the tests!

I’ve tried to reproduce this in my local install with the same versions of the plugins and an additional field filter as well, but it’s working as expected for me. I don’t see any reports of any related issues in our backlog, so not sure what’s going on…

Can you try to re-download and re-install the filter bar plugin?

Please give that a try and let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

I have done as you’ve instructed and to no avail unfortunately.

Thanks for following up Joanna, and sorry to hear about it 🙁

Can you try to disable the additional field Region in the filter bar? I’m curious to see if that has any effect on the error. I can see the javacript error but I cannot track it down 🙁 Also, if the same result comes up without the region field, can you try to disable the filter on by one to see if any of them is causing this?

Hopefully this will shed some light over the issue!

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

Thanks for the suggestions however this hasn’t narrowed down anything for me (its only brought more problems to light).

I’ve disabled all the filters then reenabled them one by one. This didn’t seem to change anything.

I’ve also noticed that i cannot get the “distance” filter to show at all anymore.

One thing positive is that the “views” drop down seems to be working slightly again (albeit without Month view which won’t load at all).

And on Photo View http://calendar.childmags.com.au/events/category/sydney/photo/ if i select any of the filters, it breaks the bar. As it won’t allow me to click on anything else in the filter bar.

I’m running short of time here as the project is meant to be complete by the end of the week.

Thanks for the update Joanna, and sorry to hear about it 🙁

I’ve shared the case with my co-workers and we cannot match this a known bug or to any other common issue. Also, I’m still not able to reproduce.

    …stripped the theme away…

Does this means you switched to the default WordPress Theme? In case you didn’t try please do so with default theme and no other plugins active.

I’m seeing a weird call https://cloudup.com/cS_9ImxNZuK which is failing, but I don’t see where this is coming from.

Can you set an staging site with a vainilla WordPress install, and try to reproduce the issue there? I know this is time consuming, but it’s pretty difficult to troubleshot the issue if we are not able to reproduce it.

Regarding the distance filter, it only shows up when there is a search in the ‘Location/Events In’ search field. It then allows you filter how far from the center of that location to show events. A lot of folks get confused by it, and we have a ticket in place to inform this.

    Best,
    Nico

So we’ve run into some more issues. We tried reinstalling the events calendar and the events calendar pro onto the site. This has broken the /events/ page and all the other views like list etc. We’ve rolled back to the original files we had in place for both the plugins but that changed nothing and it is still broken. Seems to be some disconnect with the plugin and pulling up those views but a single event page for an event is still loading for some reason so the plugin as a whole is not offline. Also the backend for the plugins seems to still be exactly the same.

Do you know anyways to fix this? Alternatively we have recreated parts of our site locally, we created a fresh wordpress install with a fresh avada theme and installed the events calendar and events calendar pro. This is working fine for now of course it has none of our content or settings. If we could export the data from the live site and put it into the events calendar locally we could check if that is the issue though we are not sure how. I have tried duplicating the live sites database and hooking the local install to it however it does not want to work with it, getting lots of database errors when we tried that.

Nico, we are back at square one after a wasted day of development. So disregard that last post.

All we did was uncheck the display view options under The Events Calendar and changed the default view to be something else and it decided to load all our data again. Cannot figure out the logic in that but it’s some better news either way.

Month view still doesn’t load at all: http://calendar.childmags.com.au/events/category/sydney/month/

Just to clarify: we switched to the default wordpress theme and deactivated all plugins besides the Tribe ones. Still couldn’t get it to work.

We did a full clean install of wordpress + theme and plugins on our local server and still couldn’t get it to work. Its so odd.

Thanks for clarifying about the distance filter. Got that to show.
