Event Aggregator Not Importing Properly

I recently switched from the legacy Facebook import plugin to the Event Aggregator plugin but it isn’t working at all. NO events have imported automatically, however I have found that if I edit the scheduled import and then hit run import that import will begin to run and if I’m lucky some events will import. If I try to run another import after that the import hangs up and never completes. Now, when I try to import a single event – go to New Import > Import Origin it says Buy Event Aggregator to access more event sources … Under settings it says my license is active. What is going on? The old version worked MUCH better, please help!!

Goodness I’m so sorry this is happening. We do have a known bug for Event Aggregator and it sounds like this is what is happening for you.

Since this plugin hasn’t worked since I bought it on 7/26 and you don’t know when there will be a solution, can I switch back to the old plugin? Also, will my license end date be extended?

Hi Denise,

You can try downgrading by visiting My Account » Downloads and selecting an older version of The Events Calendar. However, a critical part of the process resides on our servers to process the imports. As such, I’m not sure that downgrading is going to fix that. If it does, I’d love to recommend that as a workaround.

This issue is super frustrating for all involved. I can’t wait until we narrow down how to resolve this.

Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release is out containing various improvements for Events Aggregator. Here’s a breakdown of what’s been released:

• Fix – Avoid Event Aggregator previews or scheduled imports being marked as failures.
• Fix – Fixed an issue that would sometimes render Event Aggregator options invalid even with a valid license.
• Fix – Fixed an issues where Event Aggregator scheduled imports could not run other than manually.
• Tweak – Improve Event Aggregator message regarding Facebook token expiration.
• Tweak – Support importing from URLs (Event Aggregator) where the protocol hasn’t been specified by defaulting to HTTP.
• Tweak – Added filter: tribe_aggregator_meta_source to filter the Event Aggregator import source.
• Tweak – Added filter: tribe_events_linked_post_meta_values_{$current_linked_post_meta_key} for filtering the array of values retrieved for a specific linked post meta field.

Please update The Events Calendar to the latest version, give it a few hours and let us know how things go. If you are still having troubles be sure to report back to us including system information, a detailed description of the issue (if it has changed in anyway since the original report) and steps to reproduce if possible. We are aware some setups might still need adjustments!

Thanks for the info Nico! I did the update and made sure WP and my themes are also all up to date, but now the Event Aggregator is acting worse than before. I was able to get it limping along before this update by re-starting all my imports manually. Now ALL I can do is import them manually. It’s as if the system isn’t even trying anymore! See attached screenshot showing no attempts since last week and the only successful import was done manually.

Hi,

Thanks for the patience here! A new maintenance release + 2 hotfixes for Events Aggregator were released last week. More information in the release notes and hotfix notes.

We have been doing extensive tests on the scheduled imports issue, but we cannot reproduce the issue unfortunately which makes it difficult to work on a fix for it. Using the database dump of one of our customer we could pint-point a side issue which fix can help with the issue (this patch was released in the hotfix). If you are still still experiencing difficulties with Scheduled Imports, the next step would be to have a database dump of the site with the issues so we can inspect it and try to find the culprit (be sure to mark the reply as private if you send the dump).

To re-test this on your site, follow these steps:
– Update The Events Calendar to the latest version 4.5.12.2.
– Delete one of the scheduled imports.
– Re-create the scheduled import and monitor the results in the History tab.

Truly hope this helps, but if not we will firmly continue to help 🙂

Okay – I’ve updated the plugin, deleted a few scheduled imports and restarted them, gave it a day to see what happens and it’s still not working. Can you tell me how to do the database dump and get it to you? Thanks so much for your help!
