ParticipantHello, I have read the other “duplicate iCal import” threads and most of them are private replies, so I can’t really determine if those are helpful or not. There seem to be several types of import/importer and I’m a little confused.
I’m working with another developer who does not have access to my account on here, and he’s the one really working on this, but I need to post to the support forums because I’m the one who purchased the add-on “Events Aggregator”.
Truth be told, I’m not positive if that was the correct plugin for what we wanted to do. Does The Events Calendar plugin have an importer by default (Events > Import)? Because with the Aggregator installed, there’s also another section Events > Settings > Import. So do I even need the add-on to do scheduled imports of a feed. The feed is here: http://craftingbase.com/calendar_feed.php?calendar=2
Anyway, the issue we’re having with the feed is that it’s duplicating the posts. It imports like 5 at a time, per item. We’ve tried testing it with a Twenty Sixteen theme and it made no difference.
Can someone point me in the right direction here? 🙂 Thank you!

ModeratorHey Joelle 🙂
I’d be happy to help investigate the duplicate events issue!
So do I even need the add-on to do scheduled imports of a feed.
Yes, you will need Event Aggregator to do scheduled imports. Event Aggregator allows you to import events from Facebook, Meetup, Google Calendar, iCalendar, CSV, and ICS. It also allows you to create scheduled imports and includes many features not included in the free plugin.
The only import feature included in The Events Calendar is CSV for events, venues, and organizers. Please let me know if this helps clarify any confusion you had.
If you send over a screenshot of your Events > Imports > New Import screen (fill out as if you were setting up new import) and your Events > Settings > Imports screen, I’ll attempt to reproduce the duplicate event issue. I’ll also need your System Information as a private reply.
Keep me updated and have a great rest of your day. Cheers!

ModeratorThank you for sharing that info with me. I’ve gone ahead and mimicked your import so I’ll keep you updated on my findings. In the mean time, can you confirm the issue occurs when you revert back to the default WP theme and deactivate all plugins besides The Events Calendar? Please review our Testing for conflicts guide so we can fully rule out the potential for theme and plugin conflicts.
Please respond when your schedule allows and have a pleasant weekend ahead 🙂

ParticipantI’ve tried it with a default theme and the results appear to be the same. I’ve tried deactivating plugins. This was something I had to check before I was able to submit the original post here, so I assumed it was understood I had done those things already. 🙂 Thank you!

ModeratorWelcome back,
Thank you so much for confirming you reviewed the Testing for conflicts guide prior to creating the thread. You’d be surprised at how often we have to ask users to do so before we’re able to help provide support, so thank you again!
After a quick check, it looks like I’m also getting duplicate events from your feed. Based on all the evidence, I’m confident you are experiencing the behaviors of a known bug, so I’ll include this forum thread to the report.
It’s marked as Priority Level 2 and should be included in the next maintenance release. I don’t know when this will be, but please stay tuned to our Release Notes and the plugin changelogs for more information. Thanks again and let me know if you’ve got any additional questions or comments. Cheers!

ModeratorHello again, Joelle 🙂
My apologies, but it seems the bug I had linked your thread to apparently was related to our iCal Importer plugin which was retired and it’s features incorporated into Event Aggregator.
Can you update to the latest version of TEC (check your Downloads page) and let me know if you’re still getting duplicate events? Be sure to revert back to the default WP theme and have just TEC active while testing.
When testing, please make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log as you try to reproduce the conflict. I also recommend right-clicking your mouse and opening the ‘Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.
Sorry I was originally mistaken and please keep me updated. Take care 🙂
