I’m the CEO of a community nonprofit in a small town. There are several calendars with events in our town, but none that capture everything, which makes it difficult to publish events, and difficult to find them.

I am looking for a product that we can buy that allows us to share a single calendar API across many websites (chamber of commerce, sports and tourism commission, local newspaper, local radio, local nonprofits) so that whatever site you visit you can post and find events. One events calendar for the whole community.

I think many communities would be interested in this kind of product, as it would be great for local business. Do you have a version of your calendar that works/can be made to work this way?

    Hi Eric,

Thanks so much for your interest in our products! At the moment, it doesn’t sound like we offer anything quite like what you’re describing here, though I definitely agree that an API-based community solution could be very cool indeed! 🙂 That said, you might be interested in learning about two of our current plugin offerings that have proven useful to other users building community-focused sites:

    • Event Aggregator – This all-purpose import tool allows you to schedule automatic imports at whatever intervals you’d like from a variety of sources, including ICS/iCal, Google Calendar, Facebook, Meetup, and even other The Events Calendar sites. Since you only have to schedule each import one time per source, it’s a great set-it-and-forget-it solution if you’d like to pull events from multiple sources and ensure that your calendars are always up-to-date.
    • Community Events – This plugin can be added on to either The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO to allow site visitors to submit their own events to your calendar. Site admins will still have the ability to edit and approve events before they’re published to your site, ensuring that you retain ultimate control over which events are displayed to the public. If you’d like to actively engage your visitors in contributing content to your site’s calendars, this plugin might be an option worth exploring.

As always, we offer a full 30-day refund policy on all of our products, so feel free to try out any plugins that you’re curious about! Should you find that one just isn’t a great fit for your project, we’ll be glad to refund your full purchase price.

I hope that helps to get you started! Thanks again, and please don’t hesitate to follow up if you should have any other questions!

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
