GuestHi,
I want to purchase The Events Calendar. However, I want the calendar to show events from an RSS (or other) feed. Can this be done? And, when my feed changes/updates information, will that information appear on The Events Calendar?

MemberHi, Dave.
Thanks for your interest in our plugin suite.
The Events Calendar is free and includes the ability to import via CSV files.
We have a paid add-on service to import from other formats–such as iCal files, Google Calendar, Facebook Events, and more–called Event Aggregator (EA), but we do not have a way to import from RSS feeds.
EA can do a one-time import or a recurring import, like you’re asking.
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

GuestOk great- will the recurring import ignore events it has already imported? Or is it smart enough to ignore those or to update them with changes? Or does it simply do a total replacement of the prior import?

MemberIf a Google Calendar event is recurring, we’ll import the existing instances of that recurrence series as individual events (i.e. not import as a recurrence series, even if you have PRO active, which supports creating series of recurring events).
Over time, we’ll import future instances of Gcal’s recurring events, too.
Regardless if an event at the source is part of a recurrence series or not, imported events can update if the source changes (e.g. event description changes).
I’d suggest buying it and trying it out for yourself.
Last but not least, we have a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy one or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

GuestHi,
Sorry but I don’t think you understood my question. I am not asking about recurring events in google calendar. I was referring to a scheduled import of my events.
So, my question is this..
1. Today I import a set of events
2. Later one, I import the same set of events with changes to existing events, plus some new events, and some deleted events…What hapens in The Events Calendar?
– Will my edited events be modified?
– Will deleted events be removed from your system?
– Will I end up with duplicate events in your system?January 6, 2017 at 8:59 pm #1214598Cliff
MemberThanks for clarifying.
https://theeventscalendar.com/product/event-aggregator/ states,
Smart Sync: Grab updates from the original event source without duplicating events on your calendar.
Also, this means you can set an event to be permanently Ignored (i.e. do not re-import in the future):
Persistent Pruning: Remove imported events without them being duplicated on the next import.
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/new-user-primer-event-aggregator/ is also helpful, linking to https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/managing-imported-events/:
Last Import: States the last time information for this event was fetched from the import source. If you have configured Event Aggregator to ignore changes to events when fetching updated information from the Source, then the changes made to the event at the Source will not be made on future imports. That setting can be changed by clicking the Change Event Update Authority link.
If I’m not mistaken, I believe the only missing functionality for you is to fully delete/unpublish an event if it gets deleted from the source, but I think it’s worth a shot having you try it for yourself.
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.
