ParticipantThis hasn’t happened, before today! All of the event titles are showing on the events page header. How do I keep this from happening?

MemberGood evening Kent and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the event title creeping up in your page header.
I would love to help you with this topic. This type of issue is usually caused by the WordPress theme you are using.
As a first step, try using different settings for Events Template under Events -> Settings -> DisplaySecondly, I would recommend reading the following: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/calendar-page-shows-event-title/
Finally, could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantDo I need to deactivate it and then upload and install the new version? There’s no update link in the backend of WP for this.

MemberGood afternoon Kent,
Sometimes that can happen.
Your suggestion is great and most importantly it is completely safe.If that does not work out, I recommend using the direct link to the update screen /wp-admin/update-core.php
If all else fails, you could deactivate AND delete the plugins before installing them from scratch (which does not impact your existing events).
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantHave you had a chance to log in and see what’s causing this?

MemberGood evening Kent,
Thank you for the credentials.
I was curious to take a look, but it sounds like I am not able to (403 permission denied messages). As you can imagine, this makes it hard to investigate.
In an ideal world, if you had a staging copy of that site that could be “played with”, it would accelerate resolution.
By the sound of it, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes.

Quoting The Events Calendar :

ParticipantOK, the site is back up.
I have no way of doing all those things. I can’t take the site down. I suspect this was caused by a WP update.

ParticipantOK, so this is getting serious, now. My client absolutely must have this working, again. Her business depends on it.
Now, it’s no longer just the title area that has an issue. The calendar, in the widget area on the right, won’t go to the next month when you click on the >>. Also, you can no longer list recurring events! This is why she bought the pro version!
I’ve deleted and re-installed. I’ve shut down any plug in that wasn’t a part of the theme. And no, it’s not a theme issue. It was working just fine before the latest WP update, a week or so ago. It looks like this plug-in isn’t up-to-date with the latest WP.

ParticipantToday, the title area is back to normal! However, my client still can’t create recurring events and that’s why the pro version was purchased.

ParticipantAny help available for this issue? My client has just about had it with this.
