Hi Jennifer, thanks for that. Yes I suspected I might need to update. Still a bit cautious after an earlier update issue with TEC, but time to do it. Will let you know. BTW thanks for the tip about wp-staging plugin. That looks great

Ok Nico thanks. I do use a local test server but not always when updating plugins. It tested ok on the local server so I’ll go ahead. Just checking :). If you keep this open a day or two I can report back if you like
    cheers Jeff

The difficult update issue was discussed here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/4-0-update-broke-my-site/

Interesting. FYI I’m using a genesis child theme. I have temporarily hidden the End date column(6) in Community > My Events. I have no other issues except the display in that column is always todays date. Database entries are as expected. I haven’t checked the default theme. cheers

BTW i am using TEC 4.04 and community 4.02
I guess this is the same issue as the OP. If not I’m happy to start a new thread.

In my case /events/community/list is listing all of the logged in users event end dates as todays date. Editing the events in front or backend shows the database still holds the correct end date so it appears to be a display issue.
    hope this helps. cheers

Hi there, Yes it happened to me too (whitescreen) and following Brian’s advice above re updating Community Events fixed it. Love the plugin and community add-on but just wondering if you could error trap for the situation or modify the update pathway in future to save us (at least those of us who develop on a live site) from the anxiety. As a compiled applications developer (in another life) I would not have allowed an extension to break the main game. Still, more than happy though!

Thanks George, I understand it’s an ongoing process and the problem of catering to all user applications. The plugin is great. I’ll let you know if I fix this one before you do. Subject closed for now thanks.

OK, but “by design” is a euphemism. The user can revisit the form from list view (Events/community/list then edit) and edit everything except Organizer from the frontend. It makes no “design” sense. But it is what it is, and I accept the limitation. I’ll just have to keep hacking away at it!

OK – I was overthinking it! Advanced customization looks like a minefield but I can’t see why I can’t use organizers as attendees with a bit of re-labelling and push the organizer (I only have 1 per event) into venue. I need to find a way to list these organizers (now attendees) and export as csv grouped by events (1:m) but I’ve probably strayed enough off-topic for now. Back to the research.
thanks for your friendly support. I’ll be back.

Sorry about the extra posts here! I gather that custom fields available in TEC pro don’t show up on Community? If this is so any pointers to how I can edit the community submit form? Background: I got the EDD plugin to adapt for adding Attendees. It is way too top-heavy for the job so I’m building a formidable form for the job but I will need to link to it from the community event submit/edit form.

BTW George, my users don’t see the backend. I am using the Community plugin.

Yes – Maybe the default value “Use New organizer” alongside the label “Use Saved organizer” is throwing them off. We know it’s an “option” but they may think it’s an instruction? Maybe a blank default option field would be better – is that possible? Meanwhile I’ll manually remove and re-enter the duplicated values using one saved instance.
    cheers

Yep thanks. I’ll need to attach a small note to users to users not to re-enter.
