ParticipantSuggested:
Will look into the snippet as well.

ParticipantOk, I moved the grid.php and list.php from my theme’s tribe-events/widgets/mini-calendar directory, and the widget is working again.
It’s been so long that I honestly don’t remember whether I had customized those or whether they were created automatically.
(I know I really, really want a way to exclude a particular category from that widget, so it’s possible I tried it that way.)

ParticipantOk, switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme made the widget work correctly again.
Doesn’t look like CSS, though, because the content just isn’t there (rather than CSS hidden).

ParticipantThe problem definitely existed with 3.9.0 as well, that’s why we upgraded to 3.9.1.
Will try the conflict test when I get a chance.

ParticipantNot even any hints from your developers on which API calls to work with? Pretty please?

ParticipantFYI, we disabled the two plugins, unzipped in place, and re-enabled, and everything is working.
We’re also wondering if the initial failure could have been caused by an inability to reach wordpress.org? Does the base plugin come from there and Pro come from tri.be, by any chance?

ParticipantWe can do that, although that’s a lot more involved than just unzipping over the top. Is it possible that unzipping over the top would work, or no?

Participant(Or, if I disable PRO first, I get the same error about plugin being at latest version, but without the “not up-to-date” message at the top.)
And if I try the add new, I get:
Installing Plugin from uploaded file: the-events-calendar.2.0.11.zip
Unpacking the packageā¦
Installing the pluginā¦
Destination folder already exists. /-our-directory-/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/
Plugin install failed.
Can I uninstall? Or do I just need to recursively change directory ownership/permissions?

ParticipantWill I lose things if I deactivate PRO, uninstall EC, then reinstall it?

ParticipantI tried “manual” install via the web upload, but that failed. I’ll try again and see what the specific error was. I contemplated truly manually unzipping 2.0.11 over the top of 2.0.10, but I don’t know whether that is safe.

ParticipantDeleted that widget from the page, and now it’s no longer available to select.

ParticipantHmmm… also getting a fatal error from the Calendar: Upcoming Events widget – which is also showing a posts calendar now, rather than events. Error is when I click on Previous month and gives:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function tribe_is_recurring_event() in /trinityfellowship.net/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2852
