    Thanks. I put the extra code you gave me in my functions.php file in my child theme and added the line in yellow above (with the space between the < and the ?php closed up) to my index.php file but all I get is a completely gray page. (The color of the page border of the Twenty Eleven theme.) I also tried adding a semicolon after the parens but get the same gray page.
    I agree that this would be very helpful to add to future updates of the plugin as a setting in the backend. I'd have never figured out the function code on my own nor the use of the short code in the index.php file. However, it still needs to work. I know several people who would like to be able to also have the calendar show on their home page. My site is called Events & News and people want to be able to see the Calendar of Events on the front page above the posts so they don't have to click around for it.

    I looked at the source for this page and saw that it points to a Google docs link. I tried to go there but I don’t have permission to view this image. I requested permission but perhaps this image should be moved to a more public location.

    Yes, I just tried what you did and the exact same thing is happening on my site.

    I will start a separate thread for my problem. It looks like someone else has also started a separate thread about the same problem: “Page Not Found in calendar title”. I’ll try to come up with a different title.

    I agree with everything @Jonah says above. Updating the documentation would have helped tremendously along with making sure the readme file has information about what the differences are that need to be fixed before upgrading. Or at least a link to a file that explains the differences we need to know about such as the old and new events/tribe-events folders. Even if I had installed it in a mirror site, I still would not know how to fix the problems without knowing where the problems started. I hope your testing before releasing version 3 included test on the basic WordPress themes Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven, and Twenty Twelve not only as vanilla sites but also as chocolate sites with minor mods such as calendar width that would have included the events folder in the child them. This would have helped you tell us what happens to themes with sidebars or mods in the events folder that we we were told in version 2 would be preserved in future updates. I think that was the biggest surprise for everyone and we weren’t expecting to have to redo all the mods we had. If you change CSS class names, it would be helpful to see a table of old and new class names. The same with file names. Maybe a lot of our problems could be reduced by matching old and new class names and old and new file names up.

    I tried replacing gridview.php with loop-grid.php but that doesn’t show on the home page either.

    Settings for The Events Calendar Housekeeper are in a tab called “Housekeeping” in The Events Calendar Settings page. This indicates it is integrated with The Events Calendar and appears to be part of The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar Pro package. They seem to be working together fine now. You may close this thread.

    Sorry, I did not see this as customized code. I got the original answer for how to put the calendar on the home page from Jonah West in answers to my question “How do I use the Calendar as a static home page?” https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/how-do-i-use-the-calendar-as-a-static-home-page/#post-49120. It worked great for version 2.
    His original answer was:
    “The easiest way to do this is with a PHP include that you can include in your theme’s page.php template like so:
    if(is_page(‘home’) || is_front_page()) {
    include(‘wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/gridview.php’);
    }
    ” I tried putting that php code in several places in page.php but it didn’t work. I was and still am using the Twenty Eleven Theme. I asked if there was a specific place on page.php to put that code. He responded with “If you have the theme home page set to Your Latest Posts [the default setting in WordPress] you’ll need to add the code above to either your theme’s index.php file or home.php – try that.” I tried that and it worked great.

    What part of that was customized and why won’t the same include work for Events Calendar 3?

    I will start an individual thread but it seems to me that we are all having the same problem–the sidebar gets pushed down in the page template. I am using the default theme of Twenty Eleven. I can modify code and styles but if something is missing in the Events Calendar that is causing a conflict with the page template, it would help to know that or to know if the calendar view was designed to be wider than a page with a sidebar. It seems either there is a missing somewhere, or the calendar view was not designed to work in a standard page with a sidebar.

    Well, I guess I can assume that the Housekeeper plugin worked by cleaning out the database, the future event was never posted, and ask the poster to post it again. If it doesn’t show, I’ll be back.

    Omitted a word at the end. which is “not” useful
    By the way, I did refresh permalinks but that didn’t help the 404 Not Found–don’t now if that has anything to do with the sidebar problem.

    I’ve run in to this same problem. I am using the Twenty Eleven theme and the previous version worked great in this page. See http://events.stcwdc.org/events/
    Now the sidebar is pushed down below the calendar and narrowed, the three footer sidebars are missing, and the page title and browser tab add 404 Not Found in the page title.

    I tried both Full Styles and the Tribe Events Styles with the Default Page Template and with the Sidebar Template to get the sidebars back but nothing worked. If I use the Default Events Template, the calendar fills the whole page and there are no sidebars at all, which is useful.

    Hi,
    OK I looked at the widgets and saw that the update to version 3 had moved the calendar widget out of the sidebar and left the standard WP calendar there. It might have helped if that was explained in the Readme file. So the Events Calendar widget now shows in the sidebar but I’ll need to do some heavy mods to the CSS to make it look nice with the Twenty Eleven theme. The top part is too tall and it’s all gray.

    By the way, I called the Housekeeper plugin “Housekeeping” because that is what it says on the tab in the Events Calendar Settings.

    Before the update, we had 28 expired events and one future event. I installed the updates early this morning: (1) The Events Calendar to Version 3.0, (2) The Events Calendar Pro to Version 3.0.1, and (3) The Events Calendar: Eventbrite Tickets to Version 3.0. That is what shows in my list of installed plugins. I started going through the settings for Version 3 and when I discovered there were no events, I stopped and didn’t change the calendar widget. I’ll do that now but that will only fix the sidebar widget, right?
