Thanks Cliff. Can I expect backward compatibility for facebook events plugin. If yes, then for how long? Do you have plans for removing the existing code for facebook events from TEC plugin?
NitinParticipantHi Sam
I’m also doing something similar. It is achievable with some workaround.
Option 1:
1. You can set business pages in FB import plugin of TEC and import all the events automatically.
2. You can create your listings as event categories and extend event category taxonomy to listing post type(I think, its job type).
3. in event calendar, you can create a calendar for event category. And same category is linked with your Listing. So you’ll be able to put this calendar as a widget with some custom code, its not going to be a major development.Option 2:
Use post 2 post or post connector plugin to attach the events with listings. Use some custom code to list them after the listing.Hope it helps.

WPgeodirectory social import plugin does something similar. you give fb page/event url on front end and import data on the form boxes and then submit. It could be an extension/feature of community events which will work with FB events plugin.
I’m not looking for out of the box solution, which I’m aware, does not exist. Technically, if there is a way. I can spend some time and try to get it working.

You may try copying these url at facebook on your profile/page/group (you need not post it). Then you will see “%page_title%” in place of actual page title. I’m not able to figure out the issue 🙁

I bought community events also sometime back, but it was not much helpful for me. See I’ve events specific to multiple genre. And all users may submit events in those genre. I can’t have a restriction of one event category for each user. As this user number is dynamic and number of event category is static. I’d rather prefer to create a template/workaround for a user id based cal.Can you pls suggest on this.

NitinNitinParticipantThanks Berry. It clarifies lods. However, I’d prefer to stick to the solution given, till it works. Else I’ll move back to standard solution.
Thanks
NitinNitinParticipantHi Berry
Thanks for your reply. My timezone setting is UMT +5:30 in Settings->General Admin. However this is a multicity site, hence across various subsites, it will have different timezones (all selected as UMT +/-). This site runs of asmallorange VPS. So I think I sud be able to get this extension installed.
Post installing this, how we’ll go about it?

NitinNitinParticipantHi Berry. I forgot to mention, I’ve added code from below as well, in order to fetch cover pic, which was 150×150 post 3.1 update.
https://gist.github.com/codearachnid/5371606Without above code, this is the error
Warning: DateTime::modify(): Failed to parse time string (5:30 hours) at position 5 (h): The timezone could not be found in the database in /home/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-facebook-importer/the-events-calendar-facebook-importer.php on line 822

PHP – 5.3.x FastCGINitinParticipantHi Jonah
Requesting you to pls check for this event (shared by Laurent) at your end
http://www.facebook.com/events/143982232439608/Its a public event with big cover photo. While in import, a very small image is getting downloaded.
Also check this thread @ FB, where guys have confirmed this issue as fixed and cover image can be accessed now with using cover in place of picture.
https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/214434155366227If we get this working, it will make my life 500% easier 🙂

NitinNitinParticipantHi Jonah
I’ve checked it multiple times, but images downlaoded from FB are always small thumbnails. There is a recent change in FB Events and now you can see the big poster attached with each event (more than 500px width). If it is confirmed as working, it would be awesome and I’d like to figure it out somehow. I can share a backend id with you to check.

NitinNitinParticipantSome more info.. Pls keep an eye here. Once facebook fix this bug in graph API, pls take this up in our plugin.. https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/214434155366227

NitinParticipantHi Jonah.. Appreciate the response. If I can help in testing of alpha or beta version, I’m more than happy to spare some time. I’ll be running this plugin on WP and WPMS both..
Thanks
