Raymond ForesmanParticipant
I was able to fix it.
FOr future reference and anyone who is having same problem:
I had to go into mySQL database for the site and find all records relating to the previously scheduled imports, and while I was there, I went ahead and deleted all Db files relating to previous events. Probably 6 pages worth. Just have to be careful what you delete. It was rather easy to tell which files were related to the event scheduling.
Once I did that the upload function worked…Now I will say it was telling me there were no records to be found in the ICS file I was trying to upload, and it gave me an error when I tried to share my google calendar, and I had to go a roundabout way which was subscribe to the schedule I wanted with my google calendar, export that google calendar into its own zip file, unzip it and it saves as a different ICS file, and then that upload worked the way I wanted it to.
but it now works.
Raymond ForesmanParticipantill add this little tidbit as well – you guys will know better than I – however I guess what I was wondering is this:
In my file manager I can go to “WP Content > Plugins > The Events Calendar > Source > Tribe > Aggregator > Tabs” and in that folder there are a bunch of PHP files called Scheduled, New, History, etc etc.
If I deleted that folder, or any of those files, would that let me start fresh with no scheduled imports, and does that logically sound like it would have anything to do with my problem…
Thanks.
Raymond ForesmanParticipantWell I tried that – it did bulk delete all of my past events which was fine – but Im not sure in the settings for the bulk deleter how to delete scheduled imports of events. I still show 3 scheduled imports, that have no data attached to them, that do not actually import anything, but I cannot delete them – as I showed in one of the original screenshots I took (attached again just to be safe). I honestly dont know if that is causing the issue – but basically I get to the point of scheduling an import where I upload the ICS file, and then I click “preview” (thats the only option, there is not a button for “start import” or “run import” or anything – and then the wheel just spins like its trying to preview or load my import but thats all it does. it never does add a scheduled import.
Actually attached two images – one is screen shot of the “scheduled imports” tab with nothing showing on the imports I can’t delete. The other is a shot of the tab where I upload a file to schedule a new import and the spinning wheel I get while its trying to import my ICS file. Hopefully all of this helps.
Raymond ForesmanParticipantnot sure if it just takes time to get a reply but I really need to get this resolved. if there is no way to undue the original event import, then because of this seemingly simple issue im going to heave to delete my entire site and do it from the beginning. My client is not happy that the events are not showing up.
Thanks guys.
Raymond ForesmanParticipantWell here is the thing – im using the plugin on two other sites that use the exact same theme and plugins, so im quite sure its not that.
what I believe is that when I imported the site into my fresh install of WP, that there is something from my previous event imports that is screwing the whole thing up. Unfortunately, when I uninstalled the event calendar and reinstalled it, the old records were still there. So im hoping that there is some way, either from WP or in my hosting cpanel or file manager that I can remove the old imports and start fresh – without having to delete my whole website and reset it up without importing the site again.
The way I imported my site was – before I disabled it on old server, I exported all records )posts, pages, events, media) from tools menu in WP – however in that process not everything imports the way it should. for example none of my media files would import – I had to do that manually.
I hope this is all making sense? From the screen shots I shared its showing that I have event imports but they are not populated and won’t delete. therefore I need to find a way to delete all previous event imports and do it again.
Thanks for the reply
Raymond ForesmanParticipantI just saw an email yesterday about the event aggrigator…first i ever heard of it. I will read about it when i have a chance…i assume it wont conflict with the ical importer i bought?? do i need to uninstall or deactivate the ical importer i bought to use the aggrigator?
Here is the url of the feed that is importing like crazy:
webcal://mlb.am/tix/cubs_schedule_fullNow, like i said, it could have something to do with the fact that the schedule is uknown for each playoff series…so i dont know if i will have an issue with the other feeds in if the bears, bulls or blackhawks make the playoffs where the schedule will not be set either.
Raymond ForesmanParticipantokay i think i fixed it. i think the issue was that i moved my ical stuff around so much yesterday in creating multiple ICS files that somewhere the information in my calendar got botched up.
I created a brand new calendar, recreated my events, and shared to a new webcal URL and it worked.
Thanks for the help…will stay on here if anything else botches up!!
Raymond ForesmanParticipantWell i guess I’m an idiot! However, and maybe I’m being premature or because it did one import its not reading the new ones, but i imported 18 new events from my ical feed, after i deleted all the others, and it appears the dates and times were now correct, but i got a message at the top of the import page that said “18 events were found and imported, no events were created”, and it added nothing to my events page. Then i thought maybe i needed to empty the events trash where i had deleted the previous imports to, delete the recurring import i set up and start again with a fresh one. Now i get a message when i subscribe to the ical feed “Your search returned no results. Please adjust your search.”
i have tried creating a new shared ical feed url but now its not finding anything and I’m not sure why.
Thanks so much for your help…i had no idea about the date and time settings in WP
