So I am trying to import an ICS file and when I hit the “preview” button- I get an endless spinning wheel – and it never shows that it is importing.

I will point out that I have a license for 3 sites – it seems to work fine on the other two.

I also have been in the process of migrating sites from one hosting plan to another.

Some things to note – and I have attached screen shot – when I go to scheduled imports, it shows 3 but they are blank and it will not let me delete them. When I go to history it shows 16 but again they are blank and I cannot delete them.

I had to migrate the site differently – I had to export all site files from old server – and set up a fresh install of WP, and then import my site pages/files and everything else – then reset up all the elements – so there may be a conflict from what got imported but its not letting me erase those old imports and start fresh, if that is what needs to happen.

    Hi There,

Can you also try testing for conflicts with your theme and other plugins? If you would prefer not to do this on your live site, WP Staging will let you create a quick copy of your live site that you can use for testing. Let me know what you find!

    Thanks,
    Brendan

Well here is the thing – im using the plugin on two other sites that use the exact same theme and plugins, so im quite sure its not that.

what I believe is that when I imported the site into my fresh install of WP, that there is something from my previous event imports that is screwing the whole thing up. Unfortunately, when I uninstalled the event calendar and reinstalled it, the old records were still there. So im hoping that there is some way, either from WP or in my hosting cpanel or file manager that I can remove the old imports and start fresh – without having to delete my whole website and reset it up without importing the site again.

The way I imported my site was – before I disabled it on old server, I exported all records )posts, pages, events, media) from tools menu in WP – however in that process not everything imports the way it should. for example none of my media files would import – I had to do that manually.

I hope this is all making sense? From the screen shots I shared its showing that I have event imports but they are not populated and won’t delete. therefore I need to find a way to delete all previous event imports and do it again.

    Thanks for the reply

not sure if it just takes time to get a reply but I really need to get this resolved. if there is no way to undue the original event import, then because of this seemingly simple issue im going to heave to delete my entire site and do it from the beginning. My client is not happy that the events are not showing up.

    Thanks guys.

    Hi there,

Can you try using Bulk Delete Plugin? It worked pretty well for me in the past. If this doesn’t help I can give the SQL query a try. In any case be sure to back up the database before the cleanup!

    Cheers,
    Brendan

Well I tried that – it did bulk delete all of my past events which was fine – but Im not sure in the settings for the bulk deleter how to delete scheduled imports of events. I still show 3 scheduled imports, that have no data attached to them, that do not actually import anything, but I cannot delete them – as I showed in one of the original screenshots I took (attached again just to be safe). I honestly dont know if that is causing the issue – but basically I get to the point of scheduling an import where I upload the ICS file, and then I click “preview” (thats the only option, there is not a button for “start import” or “run import” or anything – and then the wheel just spins like its trying to preview or load my import but thats all it does. it never does add a scheduled import.

Actually attached two images – one is screen shot of the “scheduled imports” tab with nothing showing on the imports I can’t delete. The other is a shot of the tab where I upload a file to schedule a new import and the spinning wheel I get while its trying to import my ICS file. Hopefully all of this helps.

ill add this little tidbit as well – you guys will know better than I – however I guess what I was wondering is this:

In my file manager I can go to “WP Content > Plugins > The Events Calendar > Source > Tribe > Aggregator > Tabs” and in that folder there are a bunch of PHP files called Scheduled, New, History, etc etc.

If I deleted that folder, or any of those files, would that let me start fresh with no scheduled imports, and does that logically sound like it would have anything to do with my problem…

    Thanks.

I was able to fix it.

FOr future reference and anyone who is having same problem:

I had to go into mySQL database for the site and find all records relating to the previously scheduled imports, and while I was there, I went ahead and deleted all Db files relating to previous events. Probably 6 pages worth. Just have to be careful what you delete. It was rather easy to tell which files were related to the event scheduling.

Once I did that the upload function worked…Now I will say it was telling me there were no records to be found in the ICS file I was trying to upload, and it gave me an error when I tried to share my google calendar, and I had to go a roundabout way which was subscribe to the schedule I wanted with my google calendar, export that google calendar into its own zip file, unzip it and it saves as a different ICS file, and then that upload worked the way I wanted it to.

    but it now works.
