Hey Barry, thanks for all of your help throughout this process. Have I mentioned that sometimes I make things harder than they need to be? Ugh…I finally realized that I could get the actual AddThis code, instead of using the actual plugin, and just place it in the single.php file where I wanted the share buttons to appear. It wouldn’t screw up my site because I could also go in and place that same code into the single-ad-lising.php file so users can also share the classified ads on my site. Getting rid of the plugin also got rid of the share buttons where I didn’t want them to show up. Sheesh, I hate when it takes me so long to have an epiphany. At least maybe others can learn from my slowness..LOL Thanks for being here for me every step of the way. Your customer service is exceptional! π

What does this mean… “Keep in mind that shortcodes are only available for users who have permalinks turned off; this method will NOT work if youβre running with a pretty permalinks structure.” I am using a custom permalink structure so I would have to see how “turning them off” would affect the rest of the site. Now, how exactly does one shut off permalinks? LOL

hometownchatterParticipantAh, yes, I tried to add that code earlier and didn’t see anything. I think I may have used it before I was aware that I actually had to have an event attached to the category. Thanks again Andy!
hometownchatterParticipantThanks Andy π
hometownchatterParticipantSo, my next question is… basically I can’t pick colors for all of my event categories up front? I have to wait until the categories have been used for an event first?
hometownchatterParticipantSo stupid. I thought I had selected the category but apparently not! Thanks for pointing that out so I would go back and look! :o)
hometownchatterParticipantStrange. I have a whole list of categories I created in Event Categories and they show up on my Submit Event form (now in a dropdown). Too weird. I have no idea what’s going on. :/
hometownchatterParticipantIt appears that I have a problem with the plugin as well. I’m wondering if when I changed my categories from check boxes to dropdown menu if I messed something up. It doesn’t appear to be seeing my categories at all. I think I might need to go find that thread and undo what I did and see if it works.
hometownchatterParticipantI’ll check it out right now. Thanks Barry!
hometownchatterParticipantOh, and I guess I should have added earlier that, after changing the code, I use a plugin called “AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild” to regenerate all thumbnails. It’s super easy and works!
hometownchatterParticipantLOL! I’m no coder either. π I had to learn how to create a child theme and upload files through FTP because the problem with changing core files is that every time an update comes along your changes get wiped out. If I can learn how to create child theme…anyone can! I’m not clever enough to know of any other way so maybe one of the moderators can help you more than I have. π You might read this while you wait and see if it helps: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
hometownchatterParticipantOh, I should tell you I also had to tweak the CSS to get it to look good. π
hometownchatterParticipantIf you are using a child theme so you aren’t touching the core files, you’ll upload a copy of the events/single.php file and find this code close to the bottom http://pastebin.com/X8DSR1dB and change it to this code http://pastebin.com/ygPLpcQi Please be careful if you are changing core files. This code is set to large, I set mine to medium and it’s pretty big. You can see it in action here: http://hometownchatter.com/event/girard-farmers-market/
hometownchatterParticipantThanks Barry. I keep forgetting…I’ll be sure if I have any more Event Calendar questions to post them over there! π
