In the “Event List” when an event is selected and opens, the event image (under Google Maps) appears as a thumbnail. How can I get it to open full size.
Thanks!May 9, 2013 at 9:45 am #48033hometownchatterParticipantIf you are using a child theme so you aren’t touching the core files, you’ll upload a copy of the events/single.php file and find this code close to the bottom http://pastebin.com/X8DSR1dB and change it to this code http://pastebin.com/ygPLpcQi Please be careful if you are changing core files. This code is set to large, I set mine to medium and it’s pretty big. You can see it in action here: http://hometownchatter.com/event/girard-farmers-market/
May 9, 2013 at 9:47 am #48034hometownchatterParticipantOh, I should tell you I also had to tweak the CSS to get it to look good. 🙂
May 9, 2013 at 9:48 am #48035jpehrlerParticipantI’m not a coder. I can’t program or any of that. Therefore, no core files were damaged during the making of this film 😉
What do you suggest?
May 9, 2013 at 9:55 am #48036hometownchatterParticipantLOL! I’m no coder either. 🙁 I had to learn how to create a child theme and upload files through FTP because the problem with changing core files is that every time an update comes along your changes get wiped out. If I can learn how to create child theme…anyone can! I’m not clever enough to know of any other way so maybe one of the moderators can help you more than I have. 🙁 You might read this while you wait and see if it helps: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
May 9, 2013 at 11:19 am #48058BarryMemberThanks for that input hometownchatter 🙂
jpehrier: those steps recommended by hometownchatter are pretty much the same steps I would recommend – they are definitely the simplest I can think of.
I do appreciate your reluctance to edit code however there are no user interface options are built in to WordPress or our plugin(s) that can help you here, so you would either have to give it a go (and let us know if you need help along the way and we’ll do what we can to guide you) or else work with a suitable designer/developer – or just run with the out-of-the-box appearance.
Again, if anything in particular is puzzling please do feel free to ask (and do take the time to read our documentation and tutorials).
Thanks!
May 9, 2013 at 11:21 am #48059BarryMemberActually, one other thought is you could try and manipulate the thumbnail size to something larger via WordPress’s Settings > Media screen – however I’m not sure if the change would be reflected ‘retrospectively’ where images have already been uploaded.
It would also affect all thumbnails across the entire site. You could certainly give it a try, though.
May 9, 2013 at 12:23 pm #48074hometownchatterParticipantOh, and I guess I should have added earlier that, after changing the code, I use a plugin called “AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild” to regenerate all thumbnails. It’s super easy and works!
May 10, 2013 at 9:00 am #48175BarryMemberGood tip 🙂
@jpehrier do you need any more info here or are we good to close this thread?
May 15, 2013 at 8:33 pm #48689BarryMemberBased on impressions here and from your email I’m going to go ahead and close this – please do feel free to create a new thread if you want to continue working through it, however.
