ParticipantSince my update I can no longer see my weekly events. Single events and monthly events work fine but I can’t see my weekly events. I also use the list widget in a child theme and now it’s not working either. Any idea what’s happening. Here’s the staging URL: http://soulofyoga.staging.wpengine.com

MemberHi @soulofyoga,
I’m sorry you’ve hit up against difficulties.
When possible, please include your system information when creating new topics – it’s not always useful but sometimes it gives us a quick insight into your problem and let’s us help you more quickly 🙂
In this case, it looks like week view is not actually activated … can you confirm if that might be the case by visiting the Events → Settings → Display screen?

ParticipantI’m sorry I wasn’t clear. I’m speaking on weekly recurring events in Month view.
Also I can’t get the list widget to work anymore. Please advise.
Thank you,

MemberThanks for clarifying!
So on looking at your upcoming events list I identified this event as one that recurs weekly – apparently taking place on August 2 – that doesn’t appear to show in month view. Is this a good example of what you are referring to?
Interestingly enough, as it’s a recurring event, I was able to click on the all instances view for that event and it doesn’t actually seem to start until September 14 (and indeed if you look at month view for September onwards you can see these events there).
So there’s a strange disconnect there between what’s being presented and what actually seems to be in the database. I’m unsure why it would have happened, but here are some steps I’d like us to follow to progress this:
- Please try editing the event – just a minor change to the description (which you could subsequently undo) and hit the update button in order to regenerate all the recurring instances – and see if that helps
- I’m wondering if this might be caching related – do you have any caching in place (and, again, can you share your system information as previously requested)?
- If we don’t get anywhere on the above, it’s time to eliminate the possibility of a theme or plugin conflict: can you a) follow these conflict testing steps and b) prior to re-enabling anything, try creating a new weekly recurring event and see if it works as expected?
If you reach the third step and find that, with nothing else running but our own plugins and a fresh, weekly test event in place, the same problem still takes place – it would be fantastic if you could pause there before re-enabling anything else and let me know so I can take a look at that point (I’m assuming this will be ok as it looks like you’ve got a dev/staging environment available here).
Let me know how you get on!

ParticipantI’ve completely added a new recurring weekly event to no avail.

UTCI’m really not happy with having to do the plugin conflict search every time there’s an update on your end. There needs to be a way around this. I had a problem with this plugin before and did all of the steps only to realize it was a bug. It took too many man hours to hunt this down last time. I sincerely hope we don’t have to do this again. Please advise.

I definitely appreciate that – all I can say is please help us to help you by providing as much information as you can when you first open the topic.
In this case, for instance, the system information proved valuable and we could have quickly zeroed in on the issue earlier in the exchange without having to ask you to test for conflicts 🙂

I believe you are facing a bug that has actually been resolved in our most recent releases (it looks like you are still using 3.9.3). Can you update to our latest builds?
July 31, 2015 at 11:30 am #992251Ryan Stanley
ParticipantI’ve updated to the latest plugin. The events still drop off when you switch months.

ParticipantI am having troubles with the the Event List in the widgets area. It is showing “There are no upcoming events at this time.” But I have plenty of upcoming events. Please advise.

MemberHi Jason: please post a fresh topic of your own – one of the team will be only too happy to help 🙂
@soulofyoga: are you positive you updated/did you do this on the same site, ie http://soulofyoga.staging.wpengine.com/events/? When I looked just now there was every indication that you are still using the 3.9.3 versions of both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO.Unless there is some unusually aggressive caching in place (my recollection – though I could be wrong – is that caching would not be in place on a WP Engine staging site) I can’t think why that would be.
Can you confirm?
July 31, 2015 at 12:38 pm #992305Barry
Member…Correction, you now seem to be using the latest of The Events Calendar, but not of Events Calendar PRO? Are you still in the middle of updating?
July 31, 2015 at 12:48 pm #992310jasonhunterdesign
ParticipantHello Barry, I am using the new version. Please see the system info below.

ParticipantIn wordpress it’s 3.9.3. It doesn’t allow me to update it any further. Do I need to download it and install it via FTP?
July 31, 2015 at 12:59 pm #992322Ryan Stanley
ParticipantI think I see a problem. It won’t let me update because my key is out of installs. I’m using it on the live and staging site is there a way around this so I can do testing?
July 31, 2015 at 1:08 pm #992328Barry
MemberThat’s strange – especially as it looked from your system information as though you have a valid license key in place.
If you try to access updates via Dashboard → Updates is an update for Events Calendar PRO listed at that point? If not, downloading a fresh copy of our latest version and updating manually may be the best way to go.
@jasonhunterdesign: again, please create a new topic of your own! Posting in someone else’s topic only generates confusion and can stop us from effectively assisting the original poster. -
