Venue issues when migrating events from one site to another

Hi,

We are updating our website and thus are wanting to export the events, venues and organisers data that we have on our current live to import into our new development site. We are running the latest versions of The Events Calendar, and The Events Calendar Pro.

I used the wordpress export tool to export each of the custom post types, and the wordpress import tool to import them.

The issue we are having is that some listings are showing random blog posts as the venue.

When I edit the event and try to reconnect the venue from the saved venue list, the event will not update. It still shows the blog post as the venue even though this information cannot be seen in the back end.

Can you please offer some suggestions as to how we can migrate the data so this will not occur. We have thousands of events and a few hundred venues but less organisers.

We have a Knowledgebase article ‘Using WordPress Export Tools to Migrate Events Content‘. Can you please review it to see if you followed the best practices for moving events from one site to another?

Additionally, does the issue still occur when reviewing our Testing for conflicts guide?
