ParticipantI’m working on a calendar for a client website and your plugin keeps duplicating the events. It is wildly confusing and hectic. I have spent over 6 hours fixing the calendar (deleting duplicate events) on two occasions only to have the events continue to duplicate. Calendar is all messed up – this is a very bad situation. Can you please help immediately? – Donna Gentile

MemberHi Donna,
I’m sorry to hear you have hit up against difficulties.
Is there any background you can provide that might relate to this issue (did you recently update our plugins, for instance)? Did any updates or settings changes occur right before this issue took place?
If you could also provide your system information (by private reply) that would be appreciated.
Thanks!

MemberHi Donna: how are you getting on here – do you require any further assistance?

ParticipantI am having the same issue. It is duplicating 4 or 5 times. this seems to occur just since the update. THe site is linncountygop.org and you can see on the events page how there are multiple events on the same day. These are all pulling over from the Facebook Plugin.
Please let me know what to do to remedy this?
I have left them up for you to see but let me know when I can delete them?

MemberHi James,
We’d be happy to help but I’d ask that you create a new support topic – the problem seems to be quite different in your case than in Donna’s (partly because of the possible link with Facebook, but also because of the structure of the duplicated events).
Creating a new topic for your own specific problem gives us a better chance of being able to help both you and the original poster in this topic (Donna) in a timely fashion with minimal confusion.
Thanks!

MemberThanks, Donna.
When I click on the next month’s view and then click back to the current month, the duplicates go away for current and future days, but the ghosted days still show duplicates.
This is a useful piece of information as it suggests something may be interfering in the main query.
Lots of plugins and themes have the ability to modify the main query in order to weave their particular magic – so it’s not uncommon in itself – but, done badly or if there is a bug/oversight, it unfortunately has the potential to cause all sorts of unusual problems.
The reason I think this is happening is because when you navigate forwards/backwards the problem appears to largely go away: under the hood, when navigating by ajax as you are doing here, the main query is not actually labeled as such – meaning the conflicting plugin/your theme may be deciding not to interfere.
Given it looks like a conflict, can I ask you to run through our standard troubleshooting steps and let me know the result?
The key to this is to deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default, unmodified theme – then see if the same problem still takes place.
I realize you may be reluctant to perform this process on a live site, but perhaps you have a test site or could create one (this can be as simple as installing WordPress in a subdirectory, something that many hosting environments make a really fast and easy process).
Let me know how you get on or if you have any further questions!

MemberHi Donna,
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been unable to resolve this. I’m not sure from your response if you completed the steps by switching to a default theme or not – but if you do decide to give it another shot that could be worthwhile.
Can I get a refund for my purchase please?
We’re generally happy to consider refund requests made within 30 days of purchase – please email us at support [at] theeventscalendar [dot] com and one of the team will be only too happy to help (please include the order receipt if possible) 🙂
Can you, or have you tested your plugin with the Avada Theme by Themeforest? It is the most popular WordPress theme that I have been able to find, and it’s the main theme I’m using so you might want to make sure your plugins work with it.
We strive for compatibility with as many themes as possible and work hard to ensure we follow WordPress best practices throughout our codebase.
I’m not sure that we tested specifically with Avada this time round and certainly if you found this problem was indeed related directly to Avada that would be great to know.
Thanks and I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you.
