Upcoming Events Feature Not Showing Current Events

I am having an issue with my upcoming events that are listed on my homepage. In the past it used to show events that were current and going on that week, but lately it stared showing past events from 2016. So I went into Edit Post Grid Options. When order is listed as “Ascending” the upcoming events shows past events from July 2016, so I switched the order to “Descending”. When the order is listed as “Descending” It features future events that are months away. We need the upcoming events to feature the latest most current events. Can you help with this issue? Thanks.
