When I try t activate this plug in, this is the error I get back:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Now, I cannot access my website – either through the normal way or through the backdoor via wordpress. All I get when trying to open my website is the same message as below:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I have checked the Error Log and it is clear that the problem happened when I tried to Activate the Pro update. This is a mess. How do I obtain a refund for the $89 I paid? I had the free CORE and just wanted to upgrade to get recurring events. Obviously, this problem is serious enough to lock me out of the website.

Good evening Marsha and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the Internal Server Error message and the fact that your website access crashed as a result.

Please know that this is totally unintended behaviour on our end and not a reflection of how the upgrade process for any of our plugin usually goes. We apologize for all the inconvenience this has caused.

The good news is you are fully entitled to a refund if you want one since you are within 30 days of your purchase. To obtain the refund, you just need to follow the procedure described here.

With that in mind, short term, to regain access to your website, if you haven’t already, you can simply delete the events calendar Pro plugin using FTP.

It looks like you were particularly unlucky in the upgrade process and without more info, it’s hard to tell what the cause of the issue is. It could be a server hiccup, a conflict with another plugin, the PHP version of the server and a few other things.

I would like to offer to make it right and troubleshoot this if you would like me to.

If that is the case, as a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Once again, we are terribly sorry about that experience.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
