Dave
GuestI am very new at this and really would like to use the Events Calendar PRO so have a few question – They may seem simple for most users but then I’m learning and the E C PRO seems to have a lot of power.
1. We are a small social group (20+/- members) all listed on our WP website (in progress) as users with the author role.
1. We do not sell tickets and we do not require people to register to attend an event.
2. We want the members to be able to add, edit, and delete their own events.
3. We would like for them to be able to chose between creating a private or public private.
4. The public events we want anybody to be able to see.
5. Outside the group we do not want anybody to be able to register.
6. We are using the Kadence “Virtue” theme. I have created and using a “Virtue” child theme. (I’m learning).
Q: Does E C PRO have a login setup to accomplish this without coding (I’m not that experienced yet but working on it).
I hope I have given you enough info on what we are trying to accomplish.
Thanks so very much for your help!October 30, 2017 at 7:28 am #1371397Jennifer
KeymasterHi Dave,
Thanks for checking out our plugins!
Community Events will let users add, edit, and delete events from the front end of your site, but if all of the users who will be creating events already have author accounts on your site, then they can create and manage their events from the backend.
Keeping events private is not something that is currently available out of the box, but we do have an article with a guide and some tips on customizing the plugin to get pretty close to what you’re looking for.
When you say you do not want anyone outside of the group to be able to register, do you mean register to attend events or to create events? If to attend, you would first need the Event Tickets plugin to allow users to register for events, and this plugin does have a setting that allows you to require users to be logged in to register for events. If you mean to create events, then if you go with Community Events (allowing users to create events from the front end of your site), then this plugin also has a setting to require users to be logged in to create events. If you stick with using the author accounts that you already have, then users would have to have an account on your site to be able to create events.
Regarding your theme, the best way to make sure that our plugins will work with your theme is to test it out. I would recommend installing our free plugin The Events Calendar to see how well it plays with your theme. If you run into styling issues, take a look at this article on adjusting the page templates, which can sometimes solve styling conflicts. I would also recommend taking a look at this guide on theme conflicts.
Regarding Events Calendar Pro, I do want to point out that while it adds some great features like shortcodes, additional calendar views (week, map, and photo), recurring events, and additional fields, it does not affect which users can/cannot create or view events.
We do offer full refunds within 30 days of purchase, so feel free to take Pro for a test run as well! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Jennifer
