ParticipantHello-
My site (see private) has the Pro Cal – the key ran out recently.
see private section for site names
I tried loading my renewal download but it won’t let me.
Any work around so I can set up the calendar on my staging site before I go live without turning off my live site?
Thanks

MemberHello Patricia
In Using One License for Live and Dev Sites https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-one-license-live-dev-sites/, we do specify which domain structures that we currently support for staging sites.
If your site doesn’t match the criteria, you can still use the plugin. You will need to manually run updates, the license may not register (or you could register it there while building and later Move Your License Key https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-your-license-keys/. If you need to contact support during that time, please manually send in your System Info.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Thanks

Participantsorry – don’t quite understand.
I have a staging site with staging name but it does not exactly match my site name so it does not fit your requirements.
I tried activating my just purchased renewal key on my staging site so I could set up but it won’t because I’m using it on my live site.
What is the work around to get that key activated? Do I have to deactivate my live site? and won’t that stop my live calendar from working?
sorry for confusion.
thanks for speedy response

MemberHello Patricia,
You can install Events Calendar Pro on your staging site without the license active. The features will work, but you won’t receive update notifications or be able to share your System Info with us automatically until it is active. You should still be able to prepare everything else on your staging site as needed before pushing it live.
Does that make sense?
Thanks

ParticipantOk – thanks – I got set up but now having issues:
I’m trying to set it up like on my live site.
I’m having trouble finding a few things that I thought were standard. Here is my live site – I like this calendar and am trying to replicate: https://www.alchemyartsstudio.com/studio-calendar/
My new site is here:https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/studio-calendar/
1) I cannot find category colors in Settings
2) when I click the link – it’s configured to go to the product page
on the staging site it is going to the event:
https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-07-25/but the event URL is :https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/product/fused-tile-class/
3) the live site has proceeding and next months links on top and bottom of calendar – now on my staging calendar it is only on top
4) The Events:Settings:Display – is different and my calendar “looks” different
the html code text area is being hidden by a greyish row with :events in:search:near: Find events – which I do NOT wantPlease advise – I thought since I was using same plugin it would be same settings and look of current site to staging (new) site
Thank you for your help

MemberHello Patricia
Can you manually copy and privately paste your System Info?
1. We do not support category colors. I believe that may be your theme or another plugin making that possible.
2. It seems that your product vs event listings are due to a setting within your ecommerce. Can you compare your ecommerce settings to review that? https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-07-25/ lists the website as the product page link. The website is something manually entered in the single event listing.
3. Are you using the same theme on both sites? Please test the next/previous month links with a default theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/ to see if this is a theme issue possibly.
4. If the themes are different, the display of the calendar will look different (likewise using a 3rd party plugin for category colors). Some themes even rearrange our Events » Settings options to be within their theme’s settings. In those cases, you’d need to reach out to your theme developer.
- Start by modifying what you can at Appearance » Customize » The Events Calendar.
- Typically, don’t change the theme or plugin’s css files, they will be overwritten on updates. To avoid this, follow the steps outlined in Themer’s Guide
- Use overriding CSS files, or add CSS to your site using Appearance » Customize » Additional CSS.
- Use !important before a semicolon to override every css rule. It’s a brute force method, but works for quick fixes.
- Please check out this Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools YouTube video in addition to our Using Chrome Developer Tools tutorial on how to easily make changes using CSS.
I noticed on https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-07-25/ that your text “click here to” doesn’t actually contain a link to click.
Keep me posted on how you make out.
Thanks

ParticipantThanks – I am using 2 different themes so I see that is some of the differences in appearance – also the categories is an additional plug-in.
But -still have an issueThe events editor has “Event Website – add URL”
on my current site I have the product page listed there and that is where it goes.on staging site -even though I have the product page:https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/product/fused-tile-class/
it goes to the event page https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-06-27/
I have it go to the product page so they can purchase the class via events calendar link.
Any ideas?

Memberhello Patricia
When I click on https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-07-11/ website – I do go to the product page. Are you getting a different result?
Thanks
Courtney 🙂July 5, 2017 at 6:48 pm #1316589Patricia Haug
Participantmy current site: https://www.alchemyartsstudio.com/studio-calendar/
I click on the event from the calendar and go right to the product URL: https://www.alchemyartsstudio.com/art-classes/fused-glass-starter/on my staging site – even thought I still have the my event URL directing to my product page – 1st it goes to the event
https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/event/fused-tile-class/2017-07-11/
then another step to the product page: https://staging2.alchemyartstest.com/product/fused-tile-class/I assumed it would still work like that – it’s in the Event calendar set up – I did not think this would change with a different theme.
Can you please verify?
Thanks

MemberHi Patricia
Before I can provide any more assistance, can you do 2 things:
1. Can you start by going through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/? I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict. Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists. Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard » Updates).
2. Please send a private reply with your System Info.
Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests.
Thanks

MemberHi Patricia
When you went through disabling all other plugins and using a default theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/ (per Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/), did yu find the same results happening?
Thanks
Courtney 🙂July 6, 2017 at 12:52 pm #1317081Patricia Haug
ParticipantI have not had chance to do on staging site but on my live site with theme: U-Design the Calendar Event URL goes right to the URL – not event then URL – which is 2 clicks to get to one place –
July 6, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1317149Patricia Haug
ParticipantOK- I loaded TwentySeventeen-
couple questions
1) when I was in Events it had this message:
Pssst! Looking for the filters? They live in a separate plugin now | Download for free | DismissThis is from Modern Tribe also -https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-post-manager/
is this what you recommend for filters of different events so I don’t have to use 3rd party?2) looks like there is a filter bar at the top (I thought that was from the theme but it’s from the calendar) it has Events in: Search: Near Location: Find Events-
Is there a way to remove that and see the categories of events -I don’t need all that stuff in the bar3)When I click the calendar it still goes to the event then to my product – is there any way it can go directly to my product (it used to work in my U-Design theme) but I’m not a coder
Thanks
really appreciate your help

MemberHello Patricia
Advanced Post Manager will help you sort events in the Admin Dashboard only. It will help you sort events there.
The Tribe Search Bar is the top bar shown on http://wpshindig.com/events. It comes with The Events Calendar. The 2nd bar shown includes categories, but is a paid standalone plugin Filter Bar.
Unfortunately, I am unable to access any events on your staging site at this time.
Can you check on that?
Please send a link of exactly which page is having the issue. From what I understand, you want to go to
The main /events calendar page
Then click on a single event
Then from the single event, click on the product page link in the website address. Is this correct?
Thanks
