ParticipantI’m using a shortcode to display an events list of all upcoming events. However, I want the next event to show at the top of the list, not the event that’s farthest out. For example, it’s February, so I want events in February, then March, then April to show in the list, not the other way around.

MemberHi, William. Sorry you’re experiencing this.
This isn’t currently a known issue so I’d suggest following these recommended troubleshooting steps for your own site:
There might be some new updates available. Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
- Downloads / Version Numbers
- License Keys
- TEC Automatic Updates
- or TEC Manual Updates
- WordPress core updates
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups as well as performing modifications first on a staging site before modifying anything on your site.
If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (which will create a file on your server at /wp-content/debug.log if there are any WP_DEBUG messages) and share any debug messages you see while trying to replicate this issue and doing other things on your site relevant to this ticket (such as visiting your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and anything else you can think to do).
Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts Mode) in a Private Reply. That will give me a lot of extra information to help troubleshoot this.
You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks.

ParticipantJust to clarify, the order is correct on the main events page. It’s when I’m using this shortcode that we’re seeing the events furthest out first: [tribe_events category=”current-auctions” view=”list” limit=”10″]

MemberThere is no “limit” argument to the shortcode, but you can vote for that feature at https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/17229266-add-limit-x-option-to-tribe-events-shortcode
I tested the same shortcode (without the limit argument) and couldn’t replicate the issue so I’ll have to point you back to the suggestions in my previous reply.

ParticipantTo clarify, when using the shortcode [tribe_events category=”current-auctions” view=”list”] should I expect to see the next event as the first one in the list?

MemberYes, that shortcode should start out by displaying Upcoming Events, just like regular event views.

ParticipantOkay. When I switch to the default WP theme, it displays in the correct order. I’m using Divi. Do I need to contact developers at Elegant Themes, or is there something you guys can help with?

MemberWe have https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/elegant-themes-divi-theme-compatibility/ but I don’t think it would apply here.
I’ve looked through some other internal notes about Divi and don’t see mention of what you’re experiencing. This happens when you have only our plugins and Divi theme active — no other plugins active?
Would you be able to share an annotated screenshot, screen capture video, and/or relevant URLs to clarify exactly what’s happening here?

ParticipantYou’ll see in the video below that I’m using only TEC plugins/snippets and a child theme of Divi. (I have it set up on a staging site right now so I can experiment with finding a solution. That’s why it shows the license as invalid.)

MemberSorry for the delayed reply. With the latest versions of all our plugins and Divi main/parent theme, and without a “category” or “limit” shortcode argument, I was unable to replicate this. Here’s a GIF of my testing: https://cl.ly/0i0I2B3N3f2J

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
