ParticipantI recently opened up ticket sales and noticed that after a while, the number of tickets available is less than the total number in stock. I started with a stock of 150 and sold 4, and now the front end reads “138 out of 146 available.” I thought this might be due to visitors holding tickets in their carts, but I’d think after a while that their carts would have emptied. Am I right or is it something else entirely that’s causing this to happen? If I’m right, is there a way to adjust the time a ticket is allowed to be kept in-cart?

ParticipantThis is starting to turn into a mess. I’m now down to 61 out of 121 available, and no way to increase the number available. It’s looking like every ticket sold takes about 2 or 3 off the “available” count in addition to decreasing the stock by 1. At this rate, by the end of the day I’ll be dead in the water. I checked the reservation time and WooCommerce is set to only hold unpaid tickets in someone’s cart for 60 minutes before releasing it, so that does not seem to be the problem. I could really use some direction with this!

MemberGood afternoon Chris and welcome to the Events calendar support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us and we would love to help you get to the bottom of this surely very unpleasant ticket stock issue 🙁
The information you provided is a good starting point. But in order to be as efficient as possible, could you please also provide us with your system information ?
In the meantime, here are a couple of reassuring answers to some of your questions.
is there a way to adjust the time a ticket is allowed to be kept in-cart?
Absolutely, you did find the correct setting for this in WooCommerce. My personal experience with this WooCommerce feature is not great. I would recommend setting it to blank.
no way to increase the number available
This is very odd as you should be able to increase the number of tickets at will directly in the WooCommerce product.
By the sound of it, there might be some conflict going on with either your WordPress theme or one of your plugins. With that in mind, on top of providing us with your system information, can you also please follow our testing for Conflicts guide and let us know what you find (if it resolves the issue)?
Hang in there!

ParticipantI have disabled the “hold stock” function per your suggestion, and I will troubleshoot again tonight when I can put the site in maintenance mode. I can definitely increase the inventory count in WooCommerce’s product settings, but that number is not reflected on the front end (I currently have 95 tickets left in stock and the front says only 39 out of 150 are available).

ParticipantI took the site down last night, ran updates and that seems to have fixed things 🙂 the only issue now is that in the back end, the tickets show 0 out of 150 available, but I can live with that! Thanks!

MemberGood afternoon Chris,
Congratulations on resolving the issue on your own!
With that in mind, I would still recommend upgrading your Events Calendar plugins to the latest versions (they are a bit out of date and more importantly, we released a security patch over the weekend).
That being said, I would advise caution (using a testing/staging environment) in updating to the latest version of WooCommerce as some of our users have reported unwanted conflicts with some of their plugins / WordPress themes.
For now I will close this thread but you are always welcome to open another one should you have any other questions.
Have a wonderful day!
