ParticipantHello – I have a site where we’ve found an odd problem. I cannot get one particular organizer to save to any event – no errors on save – everything appears to save fine, but the value of this organizer is not saved in the event.
Numerous other events have perfectly fine organizers added to events with no issues. There is nothing obvious about the name (no special characters, etc) and we’ve saved her name and email address, just like many other organizer records we’ve added.
But in this one case, the record won’t attach to an event. Am I crazy? Disabled all plugins and used 2015 theme – same effect. The organizer is this one:
http://www.standardprocesswest.com/organizer/sarah-allison/
And the event in question:
http://www.standardprocesswest.com/event/loveland-study-group-meeting-2-2-2/
I can provide admin login if necessary.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Bill

ParticipantBTW – when I say I can’t save, I mean that after I select Sarah from the drop down list of Organizers, I save the event with no error, and that field is blank again.

MemberHi Bill!
That is odd! Sorry to hear your having this problem. I’ve looked at both links you provided as well as some of the other events/organizers on your site and there’s nothing that sticks out as an obvious issue.
I’m going to see if I can recreate the issue on my end and/or successfully use the same data to save a post. I’ll get back to you soon with further info and hopefully we’ll be on our way to a resolution ?

MemberHi Bill,
I used the same information you have and was able to successfully save the organizer to an event.
Based on that I’d suggest creating a new organizer with the same details, etc and try to use that instead. If that works you can delete the problematic post attach the events to the new organizer.
Cheers,

ModeratorHey Bill,
We are actually aware of a situation you’re referring to though it’s been proven difficult to reproduce for many support team members. I’ve included this forum thread to the log report. Doing so helps bring attention to the matter and hopefully expedites a fix. I don’t have any sort of concrete timeline when our devs can patch things up, but we’ll gladly update you here once the faulty code has been addressed. Other than downgrading to the version that best works on your site, I don’t have any temporary workarounds. Should I learn more information on the matter, I’ll be sure and update you here.
We appreciate you taking the time to create the thread and including so many useful details. The more information we have on the matter, the quicker things usually go. Thanks again and let me know if you’ve got any additional questions or comments for me. Cheers 🙂

ParticipantThanks – please keep me posted. I’ll advise the client to delete that organizer and re-recreate and see if that works.

ParticipantHello – this did not work for the client according to her. She created a new organizer and cannot add that person either. She doesn’t want to delete the original because she has something like 30 events already tagged for that organizer and she doesn’t have time to edit 30 events.
Any recommendations?

MemberHi Bill!
Sorry for the delay here, I’ve been trying to dig up a good solution for you. Check out this thread https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/organizer-not-saved-when-editing-an-event/
It looks like there are 2 possibilities, check your database (per the instructions in the thread) or downgrading to an earlier version of the plugin. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/
The bug itself is starting to get a bit more attention so hopefully we can have a resolution soon. Thanks so much for your patience!

MemberHey,
Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release is out, containing improvements on how we save Organizers to the db ?
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-21-august-2017/
Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for you! And in case you still see weird behaviour please send us a detailed report so we can continue to work on this. As far as we could test there shouldn’t be further issues.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
