Christina, if you’re still following this thread, I’d like to ask you a couple questions on how you color-coded your categories. Been trying, but haven’t been able to get the great look you’ve achieved. If you’re able to help and email works better, let me know. Thanks, Laura.
July 20, 2012 at 8:37 am #22466ChristianParticipanthere is what i did with the calendar.

thanks to the forum for the support so far.
greetzAugust 8, 2012 at 6:48 pm #23454ostiiParticipantI have recently worked on the following site – http://www.yogatrinity.com/yoga-events – with the styling and display done by Tim Osborn from Memelab – http://memelab.com.au/
There are still a few minor tweaks to be made, including finalising the Gravity Forms submission form.
This is the 5th events related site I have worked on in the last couple of years and the first using The Events Calendar plugin. My research suggests that few people want to view events in calendar form, but rather, prefer to see a list of events with basic details and an image.
August 10, 2012 at 7:48 pm #23541Andy FragenModeratorJust a suggestion for anyone wanting a must simpler method of colorizing your month calendar, The Calendar Events Category Colors plugin, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar-category-colors/
I’ve got a drop in solution to backgrounds and stripes. I still need to think about how to make a legend, but it’s on the todo list.
August 12, 2012 at 6:33 am #23575LauraParticipantI’m now using your plugin, Andy! Thanks so much for creating it. I also tried your custom CSS plugin, but for some reason, couldn’t find the file on my server. Won’t give up, though. Love not having to make an extra “events” folder, etc.
My calendar (http://carolinaepicurean.com/events/) could look MUCH better, but I’m working with limited coding knowledge. The Events Calendar is still the best calendar “out there”.
August 12, 2012 at 11:27 am #23576Andy FragenModeratorLaura, glad you like the plugin. I’m hoping it allows for much easier customization and people and experiment a little more with their category colors. Additionally, it really helps fix the problem some have with getting their tooltips to match.
Regarding the custom CSS plugin, did you get an error with activation? If so, what did it say. Also, you do still need an extra “events” folder in your theme’s main directory. It’s just now you don’t need to copy all the CSS from the core “events.css” or “tribe-community-events.css” files into your customizations.
If you want to contact me off list regarding getting the custom CSS plugin to work, please do. My goal was to make this just work. I’m still working on some fixes, especially since I don’t have Community Events installed. Latest, unreleased version on Github, https://github.com/afragen/events-calendar-user-css/
August 12, 2012 at 12:07 pm #23577Andy FragenModeratorLaura, you should check out the new The Events Calendar Category Colors v1.3. It has options for creating a legend. On your site it would mean automatic updates to your legend’s colors without any images. 😉
August 12, 2012 at 9:07 pm #23579LauraParticipantThanks so much, Andy. I’ve activated the automatic update to The Events Calendar Category Colors v1.3.
I’m not sure where to add “to the template”? Do you mean in the “Add HTML before calendar” under The Events Calendar Settings > Template tab?
I didn’t get an error message when I installed the CSS plugin. But I’m having some problems adding the “events” folder in my theme’s main directory. When I do, it breaks my calendar. Currently working on figuring it out. Once I get that fixed, I’ll try the CSS plugin again.
Thanks for offering the contact off list. I’ll take you up on that if I continue to have problems.
August 12, 2012 at 11:24 pm #23584Andy FragenModeratorLaura, check out the Themer’s Guide over in the Useful Links section. You’ll have to create an ‘events’ folder inside of your theme. Then you’ll have to put a copy to eco-page-template.php into that folder. It’s in this file that you’ll have to add the indicated code fragment to place the legend. What my CSS plugin does is make it so if you also have an override file for events.css in this folder, you only need to have the override CSS, you won’t need to copy all the CSS from the original file.
Adding an empty ‘events’ folder to your theme, in an of itself, shouldn’t cause any issues. Also, v1.3.1 fixes some issues with the links in the legend. 😉
August 12, 2012 at 11:25 pm #23585Andy FragenModeratorOops, meant ecp-page-template.php. Damn autocorrect.
August 13, 2012 at 6:13 am #23589LauraParticipantAndy, where can I find your contact info? My email is [email protected]
August 13, 2012 at 6:26 am #23592LauraParticipantI’m going to switch to a support forum for further discussion of this issue, since this is a showcase thread.
August 24, 2012 at 12:13 pm #24071RobMemberFor those who may not have seen it, this is a slick site with a real solid integration of the The Events Calendar/PRO: http://exploresewickley.com/events/. Note the event category dropdown, the dedicated PRINT button, etc. Great work!
September 20, 2012 at 3:38 pm #25495TorsteinParticipantThought I’d drop in this one here now:
http://solistkoret.no – with english version at http://solistkoret.no/en/Also using the calendar on some private pages/events on the same site, only accessible to logged-in users
January 15, 2013 at 8:04 am #30857LeeMemberJust about done, with a bit more fixing to do on making it responsive … but pretty much done.
We’re utilising the custom widget on the homepage, the full calendar view (link from the headers), and a custom category list on the “Events” page.
Quite a bit of work involved, especially since I don’t know PHP, but I got there in the end. Hope you like!
