GuestHi all,
great product! I’m about to migrate my existing site to WP + The Events Calendar Pro and am really excited to have finally found a product that seems to just offer what I need from a calendaring service.
While migrating my site, one big problem I have is the quality of the existing data. I’ve been adjusting some values and elements using CSV exports and a spreadsheet application already, so in general, things are in good health and can be readily imported into TEC.
What I’d need to do, however, is still displaying old venues and organizers together with the (old) events they’ve been used with, but NOT make these items available when you enter a new event, in particular to community users contributing events through the front-end.
Is there a way to do this, so to still refer to particular venue data in old, still published events, but hide/disallow picking that venue whenever you enter a new event?
Actually, is there a difference between TEC and TEC Pro’s venues and organizers, other than the former not offering dedicated venue and organizer pages? I’m asking this because I’m worried that I’ll end up with two sets of venues when I start my migration with TEC, then move to TEC Pro.
Thanks for enlightening me and
Cheers

KeymasterHi Andreas,
Thanks for checking out our plugins!
With Community Events (which creates the front end submission form), the venue selection box will display all venues by default – if you wanted to change this, you would need to do a customization. Another option would be to go into the venues and set their published status to “draft”, which would keep them associated on the backend but not show them on the front end.
Other than Events Calendar Pro offering venue and organizer pages, there is not a difference between the venues/organizers in The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro. Venues and organizers are created via functionality in The Events Calendar only.
We do offer full refunds within 30 days of purchase, so if you’d like to take Community Events / Events Calendar Pro for a test run, feel free to do so! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Jennifer

GuestThank you, Jennifer, for your fast response. I might consider a customization, then, or I spend some more time cleaning up the existing venue data, so that I can consider re-using that data also for future events.
