I have set shortcode only to display events on this month on this page https://guide2.co.uk/events-this-month/ and the next https://guide2.co.uk/events-next-month/month on this page but I’m getting all events showing. These are the shortcodes used [tribe_events view=”photo” view=”month” date=”current”] and [tribe_events view=”photo” view=”month” date=”next”]

Good evening Cheryl and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about
I would love to help you with this topic.

If you have not already done so, I would recommend reading the following Knowledge Base Article on the full view shortcodes: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/

From the looks of it, the issue is that you are using invalid parameters in your shortcodes:

    • You cannot use multiple views parameters in the same shortcode. The view=”” is used to define the default view. All other active views will also display, there is no need to list photo and month
    • The date parameter does not support “current” or “next” as valid values (unless you have some custom code in place for that). By default, the shortcode will display the current month. The only supported format is  for that parameter is yyyy-mm-dd or yyyy-mm

In other words, your revised shortcodes should be

    1. [tribe_events view=”photo”]
    2. [tribe_events view=”photo” date=”2018-07”] (you will need to update that every month of course)

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Cheryl,

I am so sorry to hear that.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Secondly, in case you have not already done so, would you mind doing 2 things:

    1. At the very bottom of the following page, you will notice a reference to the type of quotation marks: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/

This might seem like a detail, but can you validate that you are using “straight quotes” everywhere?

    2. Would you mind temporarily trying out with 2018-08 to see if that works?

    Hang in there!

    Geoff B.

Hi I have completed the system information as requested, please let me know if not.
Changed the quotations because they were wrong and used another date but still showing wrong months, sorry its probably me again.

    [tribe_events cat=’whats-on-in-herefordshire’ date=”2018-07″] https://guide2.co.uk/events-next-month/

    [tribe_events cat=’whats-on-in-herefordshire’ date=”2018-06″] https://guide2.co.uk/events-this-month/

    Good evening Cheryl,

Thank you for writing back and for the system information.

That said, somehow, it looks like the plugins list and their version is absent from the list.
For that reason, you might have to share the system information manually (using a private reply): https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

As for the shortcodes you have in place, they do indeed appear to be working correctly.
For the photo view, the date used in the shortcode reflects the start date of the event listing, not a limit (like in the month view).

For example, if you use 2018-08, it will list all the events that have a start date in August 2018 and above (September, October, etc…).

In the example you used (2018-07 and 2018-06), the event display is exactly the same because:

    1. 2018-06 will display all events in June and after. You just have one event in your calendar in June (which spans from June 30th until July 1st).
    2. 2018-07 will display all events in July and after. It will also display the event from June because that event spans until July.

Based on this, you might want to use the month view to limit events to a specific month (you could still let the photo view as an option).

    Hang in there!

    Geoff B.

    Hey there Cheryl,

Yikes! Let’s fix the calendar issue first.

Head over to Events -> Settings -> General and hit “Save Changes”.

Once that is done, head over to wp-admin > Settings > Permalinks and hit “Save Changes”.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.
