ParticipantHello! I have an event where someone must register for one of 3 tickets types for a fee, however, they can then register additional participants for free. Is there a way to require that at least one of the paid options be selected, to avoid folks just registering for the free version?
The additional piece is of the 3 paid versions, only one is required, not each of them, so it can just be a required selection, it would have to be required relative to the other 2.
I hope that makes sense! Thanks for the help!

KeymasterHello,
Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately there is not an out-of-the-box way to require one ticket to be purchased in order to purchase/register for other tickets. One option here might be to remove the free tickets, then create custom fields on the paid tickets where users can select the number of people attending on their ticket and enter their names.
Alternatively, you could do a customization to require one of the paid tickets to be selected before allowing users to add free tickets to their cart. If you’d like to give this a shot, our themer’s guide is the place to start. We also have a list of recommended developers that you could contact if you would like to get help with the code.
Finally, you might look into using a WooCommerce add-on to bundle the free tickets with the paid tickets. Tickets are essentially WooCommerce simple products, so they typically work pretty well with WooCommerce extensions. However, please note that you may need to use the full product page to sell tickets or make a customization to the template for the default ticket box if you would like to use that with the bundles.
If this is a feature you would like to see added in the future, we’d love it if you could post the idea in our Feature Ideas Forum! We use it to gauge user interest in new features and help plan future development.
I’m sorry that I don’t have a more straight-forward solution for you here, but please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Jennifer
