Using the latest versions of the plugin and the Pro upgrade…when I create a new event without a venue, save it, and then add a new venue directly on the event, the saved venue shows two fields – a blank one and then the venue I added. It seems to be the same issue as this unresolved one: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/use-saved-venue-appearing-twice-and-not-saving/

I switched to twentyseventeen, updated and deactivated all plugins, ran repair database with WP_ALLOW_REPAIR, tried with the Pro plugin active and deactive, and still have the issue on both PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.

Do you need more information to debug this?

Good evening Joseph and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the double venue glitch creeping up on you! Yikes.
I would love to help you with this topic.

On my end, I have not yet been able to reproduce this, but I am totally interested to be able to.

Would you mind providing me with a screenshot of your Edit Event screen and of the info you enter in your location/venue field (in a private reply) ?

    Hang in there.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Joseph,

Thank you for the additional info.

This allowed me to attempt reproducing the issue once again.
Unfortunately, I am still unable to get the same results as you are.

So here are a couple of additional things I would like to know:

    1. Could you upgrade to the versions we released yesterday and see if that helps ?
    2. Could I get the detail of the venue you are creating (screenshot) ?

Hang in there as try to solve this mystery!

    Have a good weekend,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Joseph,

    Thank you for the screenshots.

I am still unable to reproduce the issue, but I believe I might have some clue as to why it is not working properly.

I am noticing some https warnings on that page.
Would you mind checking up the Google Chrome developer tools Console to let me know what the message is.

We have had issues in the past with mixed-content pages.

Could you head over to Events -> Settings -> General and look for the Duplicate Venue cleanup button (if any) ?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Hello, I too get the same issue except occasionally there are a few venues that dont repeat – do you know why??

    Kind Regards,
    Jacquie

…following from above, I just noticed that I had a Delete Duplicate Venues button in my settings which I clicked and the duplicate venues have been removed. However I’ve realised the few venues that were not duplicated in the first place, were not actually appearing on the map, and still aren’t. Here is an example of a page showing 5 events but only 4 are plotted on the map. Why?

    Good evening Joseph,

Thank you for the additional info.

To Jaquie’s point, have you tried the Delete Duplicate Venues button located under Events -> Settings -> General ?

It only appears when duplicates are indeed detected.

Aside from that, this is quite the head scratcher. I will run this by an extra pair of eyes to see if we have not missed something.

I’ll get back to you as soon as that is done.

Jacquie, for your other issue, please open up a separate thread so that we can provide you with the care and attention it deserves.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Hey Joseph (and Jacquie!),

As Geoff mentioned we’ve been having trouble replicating this issue. Like Geoff, I am unable to recreate this myself…

…but since both of you are reporting this, there’s clearly something meaningful happening.

I’m curious if you can provide some information that may seem odd, but might help:

    1. Head to Settings → General in your site’s wp-admin

    2. Take a screenshot of as much of the whole settings page as possible. Be sure to include the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) options in the screenshot, especially.

    3. Post those screenshots here so we can take a look at them. You can do so by uploading the screenshots to this thread. If you have issues with that, you can upload to Imgur.com, Flickr.com, CloudUp.com, or any similar image-hosting site; then just share the links to those images here and I’ll take a look.

Thanks for your patience and persistence while we work on these odd issues together 🙂 As Geoff mentioned, we’re determined to figure out why this is happening and see if we can fix this.

    Cheers!
    George
