Hello,
We have a calendar that is displaying in month view and is showing a specific category. We can click through to each month to see the next or previous month just fine but sometimes when we click the next month we get a “page not found” page that has a blank calendar and “There were no results found.” above it. The category that normally shows in the calendar title also is gone. Normally it’ll say “Events for September 2017 › Schoolwide” and it changes to “Events for September 2017” with no category, though it’s still blank so I’m not sure that even matters. This same exact thing also happens if we try to refresh the page and we’re looking at any month except the current one (because the current month is a normal URL and any other month changes the URL to a specific month). So, we can’t directly link to a specific month either because of this issue. You can see what I am referring to if you visit:
Normal page with current month: https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/
URL for page if we click over to Sept: https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09
How you see the page loading with the month and category specific URL is what we are seeing sometimes when we click around between months. Either we get this OR we get a calendar that is showing all categories and is no longer showing just that one category. I tried removing AJAX to see if that would help (found a code to put in my functions.php file in your forum) and that didn’t help.
2 things:
1) How do we get these URLs to work and show the calendar for that specific month and category?
2) How do we fix the issue with scrolling from month to month and sometimes getting either this blank page or a calendar view that is not category specific as it was for the month before?Screenshot is of the page with all plugins (except The Events Calendar) deactivated and using the Twenty-Fourteen theme… issue still occuring for #1 above, which I’d assume is related to #2.
August 18, 2017 at 1:36 pm #1337551CliffMemberHi. Sorry you’re experiencing this. I’ll do my best to help.
When I visit https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/ and click to the next month (September), it loads just fine but is at https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09 (a slightly different URL)
How did you get to the https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09 URL that does display no events found?

I’m a little confused by your “slightly different URL” reply. The URL you show is the same that I shared exactly. I got to it the same way you did. If you do exactly what you did, once you get to september (or any other month other than the one you land on for the main page) try refreshing your page and you’ll see that it becomes a “page not found” and a “There were no results found.” message. We get this if we try to direct link to a specific month and once in awhile when we’re simply changing months.August 18, 2017 at 2:21 pm #1337577CliffMemberUm, yeah, whoops. Sorry about that… I think the way I looked at it in our forum reply viewer threw me off, since it wrapped lines.
Anyway, visiting the calendar’s month view and clicking to the next month does work for me. However, directly visiting https://kehillah.org/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09 in a new browser tab shows the no events found message.
However, I’m unable to replicate this behavior on our demo site: http://wpshindig.com/events/category/wp-meetups/?tribe_events_cat=wp-meetups&tribe-bar-date=2017-09
Therefore, since this isn’t currently a known issue, I’d suggest following these recommended troubleshooting steps for your own site:
There might be some new updates available. Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
- Downloads / Version Numbers
- License Keys
- TEC Automatic Updates
- or TEC Manual Updates
- WordPress core updates
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups before modifying anything on your site.
If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (which will create a file on your server at /wp-content/debug.log if there are any WP_DEBUG messages) and share any debug messages you see while trying to replicate this issue and doing other things on your site relevant to this ticket (such as visiting your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and anything else you can think to do).
Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts Mode) in a Private Reply. That will give me a lot of extra information to help troubleshoot this.
You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks.

I copied the site over to a staging area so that I am not messing with the live site now that school has started and both students/parents are accessing the site now. I ensured all plugins and core was up to date, deactivated all plugins except for Tribe plugins and switched the theme over to Twenty Seventeen… still getting the same issue.Normal calendar page: https://kehillah.staging.wpengine.com/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/
URL for same calendar once you switch to Sept: https://kehillah.staging.wpengine.com/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09
I’m not sure if the debugging works on a staged hosting site, but I got these errors from the wpengine dashboard. They may not be related, but figured I should share these too just in case.

Chrome console just showed one error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 () on (https://kehillah.staging.wpengine.com/calendars/schoolwide-calendar/?tribe_events_cat=schoolwide&tribe-bar-date=2017-09)

August 23, 2017 at 12:01 pm #1339321CliffMemberBecause of the purge_varnish_cache() failed message, I’d recommend checking with WP Engine about this issue.
Please let me know how it goes.
