Recurring events added non-desired dates

    When I create a recurring event, I clearly state the start/end dates. However some 4 events are created randomly. Please see the attached image: Event starts on 9/14 and there are 4 instances on the same day.

    This error has been previously reported in other threads:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-events-disappear-randomly/

    And

    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-dissappear-from-the-calendar-randomly/

    I already tested with a simple theme/debug. I cannot disable plugins. I just updated the Calendar Pro plugin this week.

    Please advise.

    Hi Ron,

    I’m sorry that you’re running into this issue, but I’ll be happy to help you out!

    Just to clarify here, are the “Once” rules in the screenshot you sent rules that you created, or were these created on their own? If they were generated randomly, can you please send me a screenshot of the rules that you started out with so that I can test it out on my end? Also, is this happening with just this one recurring series or with all of your recurring events?

    I definitely understand not wanting to deactivate things on your live site – if you don’t have a staging site set up already, then you can use the free Duplicator or WP Staging plugin to create one. When you run through the conflicts testing, please make sure to have WP_DEBUG enabled and copy/paste any errors that you see into your reply.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Ron,

    You are not alone with this one. I too have seen it and have easily reproduced the same issue with TECPro 4.4.31

    Until someone acknowledges the issue, the only workaround is to roll back to version 4.4.30.1 or below of TECPro.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jennifer,
    The “once” dates on the left were added by us. But if you look to the ones on the right, on Sep. 14th there are four instances, at 12pm, 6pm, and two at 6:30 pm. Only one of the 6:30pm is correct. The other (12pm, 6pm, and the extra 6:30pm) were created automatically.

    Mathew,

    Thanks for chiming in here!

    Ron, this has been logged for our developers to take a look at – I’ve linked this thread to our internal ticket for this, so as soon as we have an update, we’ll let you know here.

    I apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing, and thank you for your patience as we work on getting this resolved! Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

    Thank you for finally taking care of this big problem. I just want to add to I started a blank WordPress installation with the Theme 2017 and still got the same error.
    I opened a new ticket with this information (and the ne server configuration) at:

    Thanks for doing that testing Ron! The good news here is that our developers are actively working on this, so we should have an update for you shortly (although I don’t have an ETA that I can give you yet). I apologize for the delay, we’ve had some much busier than usual forums these past couple of weeks!

    Please let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with in the meantime.

    Any news about the fix?

    I have a similar problem with recurring events, and it seems to be related to covering multiple months. If I create an event on January 30 2019 starting at 8 am with ‘once’-recurring events on January 31 at 9 am and February 1 at 10 am, I end up with four events, including an extra event on January 30 at 10 am. Then, in the editing page, I cannot edit the details of my final ‘once’-recurring event. You can see the whole sequence at in the GIF at this link:

    Hello Victor,
    This seems to be a verified issue in the plugin. If you are following my thread, it looks like they finally started taking care of it.
    I recommend you to open a ticket as well and let them know about your problem so they can get the cure faster. Please link to my thread for them as a reference.

    Hi Ron,

    I just checked on our internal ticket for this, and unfortunately I don’t have an ETA that I can give you yet. As soon as we do have some news, you’ll be notified automatically here. I’m sorry I don’t have a solution for you on this yet, but please let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with in the meantime!

    Victor,

    I’m sorry that you are running into this same issue! If you subscribe to this thread, you’ll be notified when the fix is released, or you can also open up a new thread as Ron mentioned, and we will notify you there when we have an update.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    I just want to add that today’s update of the plugins did not solve the issue explained in this post. We are still getting duplicate events.

    I too have tested today’s release of TEC 4.6.23 and TECPro 4.4.32 and confirmed that the issue is not resolved.

    Hi Ron and Mathew,

    This issue was not part of the release that went out today (you can see an overview of what was included here), but it looks like it will hopefully be included in the next cycle, although I cannot guarantee this and don’t have an ETA for that release yet. This still needs to go through development and testing.

    I’m sorry I don’t have a better timeline I can give you at the moment!

    Any news? I want to participate in a beta release if necessary…

    Correct Answer

    Hi Ron,

    Everything still looks good for this to be included in the next release (although I can’t make any guarantees here). I still don’t have an exact date that I can give you, but it will likely be sometime over the next couple weeks. There won’t be a beta release for this issue, but we will let you know as soon as this release goes out!

    This issue has not been solved yet. Please un-mark it as solved.

    Hi Ron,

    The thread is not marked as solved 🙂 The fix for this issue has not been released yet (still looks like it’s on track for the next release), but this thread will remain in “Pending fix” status until it is. At that time, we’ll post an update here. The thread will then remain open for three weeks after that and will only close automatically if there is no activity during that time.

    Hi There!

    Just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, including a fix for this issue 🙂

    Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-30-september-2018/

    Please bear in mind that if you currently have recurring events with this problem, you will need to re-save them after this update so that the series regenerates correctly.

    We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience while we worked on this.

    As always, we suggest to setup a dev/staging site so you can make all plugin updates without disrupting the live site.

    Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site.

    Best,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,

    If the images do not make it in the email, they can be seen here: http://levysr.us/vShjkG3rhyCzqXU/

    Thanks for your notification that the problem is fixed with seeing extra events when saving recurring events. In my staging environment I have verified the fix, but at the moment I am unsuccessful due to a separate problem. The issue is that my “Additional CSS” is intending to disable viewing of the list-date control in my advanced list widget, but the list-date control is nevertheless appearing in the staging environment. Below (and at http://levysr.us/vShjkG3rhyCzqXU/site_compare.png) you can see the correct production environment on the left and the incorrect staging environment on the right. Below that (and at http://levysr.us/vShjkG3rhyCzqXU/css_problem_devtools.PNG) you can see the Chrome DevTools inspector, which for production is showing the CSS override happening correctly but for staging is showing the additional CSS below and not preempting the Tribe CSS. If this is not easy to solve, I’ll open a new thread in the support site. For completeness, here is all of the contents in my Dashboard/Appearance/Customize/Additional CSS:

    /*

    Prevents the calendar icon from appearing in the UPCOMING EVENTS widget

    */

    .tribe-events-adv-list-widget .list-date {

    display:none;

    }

    /*

    Prevents the Ribosome credits from appearing in the footer

    */

    .credits-right {

    display:none;

    }

    /*

    Allows word wrap with pre-formatted text, e.g., copyright.

    */

    pre {

    white-space: pre-wrap;

    }

    Hi Victor,

    I’m glad to hear that this is working for you now!

    Regarding the CSS issue, you can try adding an !important tag:

    .tribe-events-adv-list-widget .list-date {
      display: none !important;
    }

    I tried to take a look at your staging site to test it out, but I was not able to get it to load…We are limited in the amount of support that we can provide for customizations, but if you need further help with this, please feel free to open up a new thread. We’ll be happy to try to point you in the right direction!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
