    Hi there,

I am testing the free version now and have to say I’m very pleased with the results and overall integration of the plugin within the admin environment.

Before I’m buying the plugin, I do have some questions:
    – I volunteer for a local not-for-profit event organizer and we do offer a wide variety of courses and events. For example, we offer kickboxing lessons (8 in a row) that cost €75 in total, but you can choose a one time test-lesson for €12.50 as well. How well can this be integrated in my future plans to incorporate ticketing/payment systems in combination with the events I enter in your plugin?

    – As you can see on http://triggr.nu/agenda/, the title of the calendar says “Evenementen voor oktober 2015”, which means “Events for October 2015”. How easy is it to change this to the Dutch variant of “Events and courses for October 2015”? This would cover the content we provide much better. I see this generally occuring on multiple types of pages, i.e. http://triggr.nu/agenda/lijst/ when looking at the “list” view, it says ‘Upcoming Events’, but I want this to say ‘Upcoming Courses and Events).

    – Is it possible to add a line under ‘Gegevens’ (probably ‘Data’ in English version) stating for which the designated age groups (adults, kids only, mix, et cetera) for this event? Currently I’ve added this in the text above, but would love to be able to add this per event in a similar manner.

    – I wasn’t able to correctly add a price range to this event: http://triggr.nu/agenda/hatha-yoga/. I’ve left it emtpy for now, but I wanted to add “€12.50 – €95” since this is the range the costs vary between. The result on the site however was the wrong pricerange (10 – 90€), or it became ‘Free’….. > My point is: It would be awesome to be able to add costs with a dependancy (12,50 euros for one lesson, 95 euros for 10 lessons). Is that possible? I couldn’t find it in the free version. (same goes for example page http://triggr.nu/agenda/kickbokslessen/)

    – I noticed before entering any event, I was only able to go back in time (towards september, not november). November only showed up when I added an event in November. Seems obvious, but when I went back to september, the link to go to ‘October’ disappeared as well, therefore I couldn’t go back to the current date anymore. Minor issue but caused some frowning on my side when testing the plugin for the first time

    – We have a recurring event where Hatha Yoga sessions are given every Monday between 9 and 10:15, PLUS 10:30 – 11:45AM, but also on Wednesdays between 6:45PM and 8PM, PLUS 8:30M and 9:45PM. Is it possible to create one major recurring event that includes all four instances within one week? It’s not a major dealbreaker, but would add even more value to your product in my case

    – Is it possible to remove the referral-links to the next event when viewing the current event details? I.e. http://triggr.nu/agenda/hatha-yoga/ > there is a link below the time & date on the right side referring to the Kickboxing lessons. I don’t neccesarily want that there. Can I kill that?

A lot of questions, but that’s just because your plugin thusfar looks freaking amazing and I would really want to start using the paid version and get the additional options and support. I generally don’t want to change too much in any CSS file within my site, so please keep that in mind while responding to my questions.

    Looking forward to your reply!
    Best regards,
    Hans

Two other questions that arose while I was adding new events:

    – In relation to the sixth question in my initial post, I got to think about that particular situation. If it’s not possible to create a recurring event with 4 different times in 1 week (but for weeks and months on end, always the same time!), would that mean that I have to create different recurring events for each timeslot? Since I’m creating new pages for each event, would that implicate that the pagenames would have to be ‘yoga1, yoga2, yoga3, yoga4 and so on to faciliate this? Or do you see a workaround?

    – Since this is an EVENT calendar, is it possible to register everyone wanting to attend one of our events/courses via the same event forms provided by your plugin? At the moment, since we exist for just over a year now, it’s quite low key using a contact form type of registration, which requires quite a lot of manual work to keep going. How do you guys, knowing all the capabilities of the plugin, envision that part?

Found a bug in the Dutch translation files:
    – In the wp-admin toolbar at the top of the screen, when clicking ‘Events’, the second option is ‘Add Event’. In Dutch this should be “Evenement toevoegen”, but now it says “voeg toe Evenement”, which is wrong on multiple levels. In the wp-admin main environment using the lefthanded wordpress toolbar, the ‘Add Event’ translation is OK though.

Hi Hans. Thanks for all your detailed questions.

Because you have so many specific requests (it’s good to know what you want!), it might be a good idea to just purchase it and test out all the things you need. We have a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy PRO and/or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.

Here are a few thoughts though:

    • We have many filters so most text can be customized however you like. Reference: https://theeventscalendar.com/functions/
    • Additionally, links could be removed via custom templating and/or CSS hiding. Many other display customizations could be made in this way too.
    • You can make very complex recurrence rules. If you decide to try out PRO, you’ll be able to test if it meets your needs.
    • Price ranges get created automatically when you create multiple tickets for an event. For example, you can create a “Child” ticket for $10, a “Senior” ticket for $20, and an “Adult” ticket for $30 and the event will display ticket prices like “$10 – $30”
    • You may be interested in the Community Events add-on for things like users submitting events. You can even require users to be registered. However, none of our plugins handle the WordPress user registration process for you, since that’s part of default WordPress.
    • Translations for the free “core” plugin (which you’re currently using) are managed by the WordPress translation team so any errors would need to be reported to them. FYI: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/the-events-calendar/stable

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Thanks Clliff, that was a great help. Good to know you guys are offering the Refund Policy, that set my mind at ease for initial testing… But as far as I can see there is nothing I need to be worried about.

Be warned, I only found your plugin when eventually started looking for the search key ‘event’. I didn’t find your plugin with similar ease when searching for ‘calendar’ via the WordPress built in plugin repository. Don’t know if it’s just me, but if I would have know your plugin earlier, I wouldn’t have bought that crappy CP Multiview Event Calendar app which does show up as one of the first results when looking for ‘calendar’…

    Excellent!

    Thanks for the feedback too.

I’m sure we’ll see you more on the forums once you get using the various add-ons. I wish you well!
