ParticipantSince updating the event calendar and event tickests plus we have big problems editing the events. Very often it times out.
I deactivated all plugins and activated them one by one.
When the event calendar is activated I can open the events without a problem.
When I activate event tickets plus I can’t edit the event. It times out or it takes a very long time to open. What can be the problem?
Kind regards,

MemberHi, Anne-Marie. Sorry you’re experiencing this.
This isn’t currently a known issue so I’d suggest following these recommended troubleshooting steps for your own site:
There might be some new updates available. Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
- Downloads / Version Numbers
- License Keys
- TEC Automatic Updates
- or TEC Manual Updates
- WordPress core updates
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups as well as performing modifications first on a staging site before modifying anything on your live/production site.
If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (which will create a file on your server at /wp-content/debug.log if there are any WP_DEBUG messages) and share any debug messages you see while trying to replicate this issue and doing other things on your site relevant to this ticket (such as visiting your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and anything else you can think to do).
Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts Mode) in a Private Reply. That will give me a lot of extra information to help troubleshoot this.
You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks.

MemberThanks for the info. I tried to replicate this behavior but couldn’t with the latest versions of WordPress, our plugins, and EDD.
Is this happening on for all events or just existing events ticketed with EDD or for creating new events and ticketing them?

ParticipantThere is no difference between new and old events.
The website is a few years old. It’s not an extremely large site, but the database is 68Mb. What is the best way to delete old events and their corresponding tickets?
March 19, 2018 at 6:57 pm #1483544Cliff
MemberA 68MB database isn’t large at all.
You can download a previous version from https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/ (it has a drop-down to select a previous version) and follow https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/manual-updates/ for how to downgrade if you choose to.
Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups as well as performing modifications first on a staging site before modifying anything on your live/production site.
Which version(s) work once you downgrade?

ParticipantI’m sory, I don’t understand. Why should I downgrade?
My question was how can I savely delete the events and it corresponding tickets
March 20, 2018 at 1:32 pm #1484314Cliff
MemberYou initially said “Since updating…” so I was wondering if downgrading to the version you had before would confirm which version did work on your site.
===
To fully delete, first delete all an event’s tickets, then delete the event, then empty the event trash.
If you delete an event, it won’t also delete the attached tickets.

Regarding the debug messages about EDD with Event Tickets Plus, when exactly do those errors start appearing — when creating a ticket, adding a ticket to the cart, paying for a ticket, etc?

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Performance problem is only in the backend. When I create an event or edit an event.
If I deactivate plugin Tickets plus there is NO performance problem
If I activate Tickets plus it takes 10 seconds or more before I can edit the event.====
68mb isn’t large for a database but the table wp_postmeta contained 178418 records.
I deleted events, tickets and edd_log records older than nov 1, 2017 and downsized to ± 70000 records.
Performance improved slightly, but is still takes approx. 10 seconds before I can edit an event in de backend. (before deletion of the records it often timed out)
The website isn’t very big, 68 pages and 18 posts.

MemberGreat update. That’s quite a reduction in records!
Does disabling EDD’s logging solve this?
If not, please add
print_r( $purchase );as Line 78 in /wp-content/plugins/event-tickets-plus/src/Tribe/Commerce/EDD/Stock_Control.php — like this: https://cl.ly/3g3u0g3a1P0X — and let me know what you see on your page when replicating the errors from WP_DEBUGSharing a screen capture video could help too. https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html is a free way to do this.
