ParticipantHi guys, when ever i make an edit to a recurring event, it puts it out of order with the rest of the events in the same week, eg.
Monday has Event 1 Event 2 Event 3 Tuesday then has Event 2 Event 1 Event 3Is this a known thing? Or can i resolve this some way? 🙂
If you need any further explanation please do ask!
Also, is it possible to add a separator between morning and afteroon events on the same day? e.g
Morning Event SPACER HERE / MARGIN / WHITE GAP Afternoon EventMany thanks

KeymasterHi Liesel,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

Let me know if anything else comes up in the meantime!
Thanks,

KeymasterHi Liesel,
Thanks for providing me with that information!
Can you take a screenshot of how that recurring event looks on the backend, so that I can try to replicate things on my end as well?
To answer your question about the separator, there is typically a separator between the events in month view, but the theme does affect the styling of the calendar to some degree. Can you try adjusting the Default stylesheet used for events templates and Events template settings under Events > Settings > Display and see if that makes a difference?
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHi Jaime, no problem ill get these screenshots for you shortly.
With regard to the separator, i want it to separate between Morning and Afternoon, for example a gap between the last event upto 12pm and the next event starting at 1pm
12pm GAP HERE 1PMApril 13, 2018 at 1:00 am #1506343inquisiminds
ParticipantHI Jaime, see images attached, hope this helps! 🙂

KeymasterHi Liesel,
Thanks for providing me with that information. Â I was not able to replicate the issue that you are seeing. Â For example, I set up a daily, recurring event that occurred for a few days. Â Then I made a change to the time of the event (which changed the time for all of the days of the event). Â The events stayed in the correct order within the day. Â Am I missing anything here?
In the meantime, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Creating a conditional separator is going to be a bit more complicated. Â Please also note that support for customizations is limited as stated in our support policy. Â I’d recommend starting off by taking a look at our Themer’s Guide, which can show you which templates can be edited and copied in order to achieve the results that you are looking for.
If this functionality is a requirement for your intended project, I’d suggest that a third-party developer would be the best way to make this feature happen on a short timeline. ? We maintain a list of developers who work with our plugins on our Knowledgebase here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHI Jaime, yes, make 2 events that run side by side for a week
You see that in month view, it will show them all in order going left to right
If you then alter 1 of them, change the description or something, and save the changes, you will see that the 1st day goes out of alignment with the other days, as shown in the screenshots above!

KeymasterHi Liesel,
Just to clarify, are these events in a recurring series? Â Or are you referring to two separate events?
When you alter 1 event, are you breaking the event from a series or editing the entire series of recurring events?
In the meantime, I’d recommend going through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHi Jaime, sorry for my delay. The events are ALL set as recurring for the week they’re in.
eg. I setup 2 events both in the same week, everyday, Monday – Friday starting at 9am and finish at 12pm
IF i then go in, and make a change, any change to the “series” (Edit All) and save, it throws out the 1st event on the Monday and puts it out of order with the rest of the week, so my calendar looks out of shape!
eg.
Monday 1 Monday 1 Monday 2 Monday 2 Monday 3 Monday 3THEN BECOMES
Monday 2 Monday 1 Monday 1 Monday 2 Monday 3 Monday 3April 16, 2018 at 5:27 am #1507999Jaime Marchwinski
KeymasterHi Liesel,
I’m still unable to replicate this issue. Â Again, to clarify, this is your setup:
Event 1: Recurring Event Monday-Friday 9am-12pm
Event 2: Recurring Event Monday-Friday 9am-12pm
Make a change (like change description) to Event 1, and it goes below Event 2. Â Is that correct?
Can you take some screenshot of how these events are set up?
In the meantime, I’d recommend going through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHi Jaime, thanks again for the support, would it be anything to do with the order the events are edited for example?
April 18, 2018 at 4:55 am #1510031Jaime Marchwinski
KeymasterHi Liesel,
The order in which you edit events should not have any impact on the order of the events themselves. Â I have tried this same scenario on my own site, and was unable to replicate the issue that you are seeing.
The only things that could affect this order is if you edited only the one event and/or broke the event from the series, instead of editing the whole series. Â Let me know if this scenario is what you are doing.
I am also seeing a number of errors occurring on your site. Â At this point, I would recommend running through the testing for conflicts procedures that I detailed above.
Another option would be for you to install the third-party plugin, Health Check, which can mimic a bare WordPress install while your site visitors still see your site the way that it normally appears.
Let me know if you have any other questions along the way!
Thanks,
Jaime
