    Hi,

I know there are a couple posts on this subject, but none seem to resolve my problem. The one that most closely matches what I want to do is here (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/open-external-links-in-new-windows/). I’ve implemented the recommended solution, and even tweaked the link.php file similarly and I still cannot get the external links to open in a new window or tab. I don’t believe that thread was ever marked “resolved”, so I wanted to see if there was any further advice.

    Thank you!
    Ashleigh

    Hi Ashleigh.

Please check out this code and see if it works for you in your theme’s functions.php (and make sure to put link.php back exactly how it was before you made any edits to it):

Let me know how things go.

Hmm…didn’t work for me. I have the .php files back to their original state. Not sure if it would matter, but I’ve changed the event website urls to buttons (using instruction that I found in the support forum).

    Thanks,
    Ashleigh

Ashleigh, you either aren’t putting it in your active theme’s functions.php file or something else is going on. I’m unsure how else I can help besides giving you the code snippet I provided you before.

I’d suggest following our recommended troubleshooting steps:

Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?

Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.

If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to TwentySixteen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any PHP errors you see while changing tickets quantity, navigating your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and any other of your site’s pages relevant to this ticket.

Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts mode).

You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)

Let us know what you find out.

    Thanks.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
