Next Events Link not working on list view

The next events link is not working in list view on my site. I am not sure what is causing this. I have used events calendar on other sites with the same template and plugins.

Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated!

Not working for me when I click next events it just scrolls to the top of the same page with the same information.

I took a closer look at your site and found a JavaScript error, which may be related to an outdated version of jQuery on your site.

It seems like this outdated version may be coming from your theme.

To help test for this, can you activate a default theme like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Sixteen on your site, and then see how the “next events” and “previous events” links behave in that theme.

That’s strange because I’m using this exact theme on several sites and they are working fine with the events calendar plugin.

That is indeed odd, @John. Are the versions of The Events Calendar on those sites behind 4.2 by any chance? It could be a recent JavaScript change in The Events Calendar 4.2 that is breaking in the older jQuery versions.

Everthing is exactly the same. Maybe i will try using googles cdn jquery to see if that fixes it.

I switched to twenty sixteen theme and yes the link worked fine. I added the latest version of juery and I am still having the problem. What else can I do?

Like I said before I am running the exact same setup on other sites and I am not having any issues.

Hey John,

Thanks for testing that! If things work fine just by switching themes, then your current custom theme (i.e., the one that is not Twenty Sixteen) is the source of the conflict.

There could be a number of factors that make the issue not show up on other sites. For now, let’s just focus on this one with the problems.

One thing I’m curious about is, what do you mean when you say you “added the latest version of jQuery,” specifically? Are you modifying theme code? If so, how? How are you loading jQuery in your own way?

I would recommend NOT loading jQuery on your own, or from within your theme. WordPress will load its own copy of jQuery and that should not cause problems, which seems to be true based on your test with the Twenty Sixteen theme.

I added it to the theme functions.php but I removed it anyway since it didn’t do anything.

Do you have any ideas as to what I can do to fix this issue?

Hey John,

I checked out your site and the outdated version of jQuery is still being loaded.

If things work fine in the default theme, then your custom theme is the source of this problem. The only thing I can recommend from here, unfortunately, is to make sure that neither your theme nor any of your plugins are loading their own versions of jQuery and dequeueing the built-in version.
