ParticipantI am circling back on a thread that I started some time ago. Sorry for the long delay, but hoping you can help with some additional assistance. Here is the link to the original thread:
We looked at the articles you referenced (many thanks) and they won’t quite work for us. We do not need a new TEMPLATE but what we really want is a new VIEW.
To implement what we want on our home page, I believe that we want to use the [tribe_events view=photo tribe-bar=false] shortcode but specify a custom view in the shortcode e.g. [tribe_events view=photo_small tribe-bar=false]
We need to do it this way so that we can keep the standard photo view and use it on another page and not modify it at the same time we use this shortcode with the new view on our homepage.
I am guessing (hoping) that we can start by copying the current photo view files in the events_calendar_pro/src/views/pro/photo directory into our CHILD theme and give them a new name then modify the files to produce the “photo_small” view that we can use in the shortcode.
Can you tell me how to do this modification (add a new view) and what pieces I need to rename to produce this new view that we can use on our homepage?
Thanks

KeymasterHi Edward,
Thanks for reaching out again!
Just to let you know, we are limited by our Support Policy in how much we can help with customizations, but I will try to point you in the right direction.
We don’t have a whole lot of documentation on creating your own view, however I’d recommend checking out some fo the tips in these forum posts:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/can-i-make-my-own-custom-views/
Beyond that, I’d recommend looking at the code related to the available views to see if you can achieve what you are looking for. Our Themer’s Guide is a great jumping off point.
If this functionality is a requirement for your intended project, I’d suggest that a third-party developer would be the best way to make this feature happen on a short timeline. ? We maintain a list of developers who work with our plugins on our Knowledgebase here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
